“We have absolutely loved using the Sea Cleaners kit within our classroom space. The kids have thoroughly enjoyed the whole process and other classes have been keen to borrow it. The students were shocked at the amount of rubbish they found within the waterways around the school and have come up with some pro-active strategies to try and reduce this. I will be using this kit over and over and have loved the message behind it.”
“This was great for us, as we are very close to a bay. The students got excited about cleaner their local area. They loved being able to have their own gloves and use the bags included in the pack. We went for two walks- the first to identify how much rubbish was at the bay and the second to pick up the rubbish. After the rubbish was collected we looked at our own collection and classified our rubbish, then we worked alongside another class, to look at the rubbish combined and then reclassified. A lot of our rubbish was fishing gear- line etc. The video clips were helpful to start a discussion. The planning overview was great.

“The Sea Cleaners kit was absolutely fantastic! Our class had a great time exploring and researching rubbish in our water ways and it lead to an inquiry of rubbish around our school, in our place that will continue next term. Our class didnt get to the sea but got to our local Awa where we picked up rubbish surrprinsly there wasn’t much wich made our tamariki happy. This is a great kit which has made our tamariki more aware of what and where the rubbish is going.”

The kids loves sorting all the rubbish and it was fantastic to have the gloves/bags. I have since used the gloves and posters for other activities through our Inquiry on sustainability.
