What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? How do we take our local (school) rubbish audit knowledge out to the community such as beach clean ups. Lots of questions about how we can make an impact, some were keen to join support groups and volunteer their time, even if not directly related to sea

How many hours did your class volunteer for your cleanup? Again it was a range as we did this as part of home learning given many kids were still away from school with Covid. Some did an hour and up to one student doing 1 hour every weekend day over the term.
It was a good kit and did follow on from our Tread Lightly school rubbish audit looking at plastic waste, paper recycling, soft plastics, food scraps, etc. Sea Cleaners was hands-on and a great way for us to connect classroom learning with families/whanau and tap into their knowledge too.

The students were very excited to have their own gloves and brown rubbish bags were a huge hit too! These bags became a huge talking point as the students walked around in the community estuary walk and people asked about where to get them and buy them! Students were very proud of their actions!

It was an amazing kit to support tamariki in learning about the sea and why it’s so important to look after it. It also taught them what they can do to help keep our beaches clean

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? We are conscious of the way our rubbbish and recycling habits can have an affect on our world around us. We encourage children to take their rubbish home so they can be disposed of appropriately.

We loved this kit! We found it to be a very timely resource as our team was planning a trip to our local beach to do a clean up. We had spent the term learning about rubbish and recycling and the effect that we, as humans, can have on nature and wild life. To act on our learning, we decided to visit Foxton Beach and clean it up. The gloves and large paper bags came in handy for this trip. Thank you!

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? The rotations on our beach day weren't long enough to do the statistical analysis but I plan to do that at our school so will adapt the poster to fit a school clean up.

How many hours did your class volunteer for your cleanup? During our beach day we had 5 rotations of 20minutes, however, not all of that was doing the clean up as we had to give directions etc (our kids are yr 1 & 2)
We have used the Sea Cleaners kit in several settings, firstly in our school 'working bee' we used the gloves. Then at our beach day last term, we used the sea cleaner kit for one of our rotations. Unfortunately, the beach had only had a beach clean-up day 3 days before our visit so there wasn't a lot of rubbish, but interestingly enough a number of children said that their favourite part of the day was doing the beach clean up!

Handy kit with lots of cleaning gloves that are reusable and a big bag. Unfortunately, covid interrupted our intended use of this kit.
