“We used our school kit at the river but our main clean up will be at the Rocky Shore in Timaru on June 30th so I will send my photos and pictures of our finds with it.”

How has this kit impacted on your class culture? Children were more sustainable and showed empathy for the environment. They were more careful with rubbish etc.
In what ways did this kit impact student attitude towards environmentalism? It went really well with our Eye on Nature wearable arts project. Our whole focus was on sustainability. I could definitely see a shift in the children with there awareness of littering and taking care of the environment.

How has this kit impacted on your class culture? We have a strong class culture as most of my kids are related in some way, many of which are Te Mahurehure.
In what ways did this kit impact student attitude towards environmentalism? My kids were focussed on what they were learning. They were then able to make inquireies into the impact of rubbish and pollution around the world. They were aware of what was happening to our moana, whenua, awa etc.

“We had a great time collecting rubbish at the beach in New Plymouth. We sorted the rubbish for statistic work, discussed the effect the rubbish would have on the local sea life and are using this journey as a springboard to our topic on stewardship next term. Thank you for such great resources.”

“Kia Ora Thank you for our sea cleaners kit the Tamariki were so excited to open it and we had planned our trip right down to what we were buying for lunch. We had planned to visit the local recycling centre as well but due to covid we were unable to go ahead with our trip. We have our kit sitting there waiting hoping to go this term.”
