“This worked really well with the short story I did with my Year 8 class The Seahorse and the Reef, by Witi Ihimaera. The themes of care gir the environment linked very well with the school kit.”

In what ways did this kit impact student attitude towards environmentalism? Due to illness outkit didn't get to completete the kit. The kids were keen on the idea. I am hoping to contine by using the kit with my current 2023 class.

“The volunteer initiative really engaged the children into critical thinking about cause and effect as well as developing their opinions on citizenship. Tying it to a local context brought in partnership between the students, whānau and our community.”

“A great kit to give you tools needed for beach or river cleanups. The bags and gloves were well received by the Akonga and adults. The poster was a great visual for collecting and documenting the litter we found. Posters are also a lovely visual reminder of why we need to keep litter out of the sea.”
