Please provide 2+ examples of student voice on the kit's impact on them 1. It made me think about what was around the trees and how it got there. 2. We saw the harm we were doing on the posters and what fish we could kill.
Which kit components were the most impactful and why? Posters had a real impact as the students could see the harm that could be done to different fish.
How many bags of rubbish did your class collect? We collected between 2 classes probably 4+ full bags of rubbish.
How has this kit impacted your class culture toward whenua ora (land wellness) and sustainability? My class could see that from a small area of beach, we collect so much rubbish and it was all caused by humans. Please provide 2+ examples of student voice on the kit's impact on them 1 - When I clean up and plant natives down at the wetlands, I am helping clean up our lakes and rivers also. 2 - There is so much to do! Planting and cleaning up... I only get that now because I understand how what we do now impacts on other people and places (like the Otago Harbour).
Which kit components were the most impactful and why? The initial immersion activity that explored where our waterways feed into was eye opening.
How many bags of rubbish did your class collect? Oooops... I am sorry we didn't count this but planting around our local waterways was an accidental action that came from this learning.
How has this kit impacted your class culture toward whenua ora (land wellness) and sustainability? Absolutely - see the comments above.

What was the latitude and longitude of your clean up? (from Sea Cleaners poster) (I'm sorry - I need to go back to this resource when less busy....) Local wetlands, Shotover River Delta and Lake Hayes.
What was your cleanup location type? River, Other
Which of the following types did your class collect? Plastic Bag, Food Wrappers, Household Waste
What was the most interesting piece of rubbish found and why? Unfortunately, the kids felt that the beer bottles told a story about our locals.
The Sea Cleaners 23 kit provided us with a range of resources and links that helped us to create deep learning around our pre-existing program. We have an ongoing Wetlands project and the children enjoyed exploring the many ways our local waters feed into streams, rivers, lakes and eventually into the ocean! The kit supported the group in understanding the significant role they have not only as kaitiakitanga in our local area but also that their actions have impact on many (all the way to the ocean). The kit also prompted us to reach out and join other local projects such as the local re-forestration project.

Please provide 2+ examples of student voice on the kit's impact on them "The gloves make sense" - The kids liked the words on the gloves and holding their hands up so others could read the message. "I want to do this again!" - We went to our local awa to collect urbbish, even though we stuck to the path, it was amazing how much rubbish they collected.
Which kit components were the most impactful and why? The best part of the kit was the posters with the space in the animal's stomachs, where the children glued rubbish from our river walk. The visual made the kids think about how rubbish can get into animals' stomachs.
How many bags of rubbish did your class collect? 2 Full ones (very full)
How has this kit impacted your class culture toward whenua ora (land wellness) and sustainability? We actually looked at water in term 4 so what they learned in term 3 with the clean up was great, because the children were able to show other children the photos of what they collected from their own neighbourhood and the kids could see it actually is a problem/
What is the legacy this kit will leave behind on your learners? That rubbish from a stream can end up in the great pacific garbage patch.

What was the most interesting piece of rubbish found and why? Their was a bread bag with 3-4 slices of bread. They thought maybe this had fallen from someones pram.
We used it for our Enviro team, rather than a class. We have a large group of children who meet each Wednesday so we organised a trip to our local river to collect litter from the sides of the path way. They were very surprised at how much rubbish there was.
