Please provide 2+ examples of student voice on the kit's impact on them Student A - "I liked protecting the whales and turtles by making sure our school was clean". Student B - "Getting my own set of gloves was cool. I want to take them home to keep picking up rubbish on the farm."
Which kit components were the most impactful and why? The pairs of gloves - the messaging on them was simple and powerful, and each student having their own pair meant they knew the learning was for them, and they all fully engaged in the experience.
How many bags of rubbish did your class collect? 3 bags on the first day, and 2 on the second day.
How has this kit impacted your class culture toward whenua ora (land wellness) and sustainability? The students are more aware of littering and how rubbish dropped anywhere could end up in the ocean. The students are keen on being leaders and guardians of the land around the school and at home.
What is the legacy this kit will leave behind on your learners? Protecting our oceans can begin at home (even in Murchison where we are many kilometers away from the sea)

What was the latitude and longitude of your clean up? (from Sea Cleaners poster) 41.8° S, 172° E
What was your cleanup location type? Reserve, School
Which of the following types did your class collect? Plastic Bag, Plastic Bottles, Food Wrappers, Household Waste, Toys
What was the most interesting piece of rubbish found and why? Broken set of scales - kids enjoyed cleaning them up and using them. We learnt about re-using, and about how to throw away household goods responsibly.
The Sea Cleaners kit was a bit hit in our junior primary classes, with each student eager to learn more about how rubbish reached the ocean. The gloves and bags were sturdy and fit for purpose, though we did overestimate how much rubbish we could find so had a few bags left over to also help clean up our school!

I was disappointed with this kit, I didn't realise that it would require children to go out and collect rubbish. I probably should have realised this given the title but I didn't. We don't live close to the sea and an excursion like this would have required a lot of forms and permission.
