How has this kit impacted your class culture toward whenua ora (land wellness) and sustainability? We had a show case with family and shared our findings. We think family were shocked with how much rubbish on the beach and we hope this will raise awareness. As a class we learned about the importance of using bins and package free lunches.

What was the most interesting piece of rubbish found and why? A plastic trolley. It was still in great use so we don't know why someone would just leave it there on beach.
Our Marine Reserve Group used this kit to assist with their Kaitiakitanga beach cleanup. Having the gloves and rubbish bags made the job super easy and save for our ocean warriors. They really enjoyed the followup tasks of analysing the rubbish found and sticking the rubbish onto the ocean animals,

The class really enjoyed learning how they can make small changes to make a bigger impact in the world. They loved the mock river system activity and getting out in our community for the clean up learning experience. It was great to see them becoming aware and active in keeping our school and local area tidy.

We really enjoyed being able to use the Sea Cleaners 23 kit last term. Our community regularly engages in beach and coastal clean ups and as such we were not able to use them for the express purpose of cleaning up these areas (although they were discussed). Instead we cleaned our school and several blocks around our school grounds. The tamariki had an absolute blast! Once they had been given their bags and gloves they were eager to get started and all said it was an activity they would love to repeat and continue to engage in as they grow older.

We enjoyed the Sea Cleaners kit. Unfortunately we didn't end up making it to the beach, instead, we did a big school clean-up. The tamariki loved learning about sustainability and looking after our environment and creatures. We tied it into some art and used some of the rubbish we found to create some ocean animal art which linked to making sure we don't litter in order to keep our wildlife safe.
