"My uncle used to drop his MacD's rubbish and chip packets out of the car window - I've stopped him now!!" - the amount of time we referred to the "journey of D's Uncle's chip packet"! "I'm going to stop my mum from buying all these snacks in packets and use bigger bags and my own boxes". "The turtle at Kelly Tarlton's ahd to be rescued because it was sick and starving; I don't want anymore plastic getting into the ocean to make this happen again".
Which kit components were the most impactful and why?
Craeting an art work incorporating the rubbish and making the connection that we had stopped this from getting to the ocean. The poster at the end of the clean up, to help facilitate the sorting and analysing - seeing it all laid out and thinking about the hows and whys. The to all
How many bags of rubbish did your class collect?
When collated, my class collected 6 full bags from the area that my class covered in the school grounds - there were 8 classes in total spread across the entire school area - each collecting on average around the same amounts.
How has this kit impacted your class culture toward whenua ora (land wellness) and sustainability?
My class mention something almost daily regarding the rubbish seen and what they each pick up, around school or town. About

What was the most interesting piece of rubbish found and why?
chip packets - amazing to see how many, but also how long they stay recognisable for after being in the open air for so long - a huge lesson in action on realising how long it takes for plastics to decompose (Never!!!).
