Please provide 2+ examples of student voice on the kit's impact on them Child 1 - I liked picking up the rubbish and cleaning up our school. If I saw rubbish outside of school, I would stop and pick it up now and get rid of it properly. Child 2 - This was a fun and exciting activity to do. I loved putting the rubbish on the posters. It feel good to be keeping rubbish out of the sea.
Which kit components were the most impactful and why? Posters of sea creatures - this was a powerful image for children to see and understand the impact of waste on sea creatures.

What was the most interesting piece of rubbish found and why? Oil container and lots of metal pieces. These were not dropped by children but adults within the school.
This was such a great learning experience for all tamariki. We didn't organise an off-site clean-up, we spent a couple of weeks collecting and sorting rubbish from our school environment. This was a really powerful experience as we found over 100 wrappers in our school playground. By investigating the streams and rivers close to our kura, the children clearly saw how this rubbish could end up in the waterways. We presented our findings to the school to inspire others to clean up the school as well, which two classes then did. I loved the posters that came with the kit as these were such great visuals. This kit also led to discussions around waste in lunchboxes and how to minimise this. Children were keen to use the gloves in their own neighbourhood to continue to collect rubbish to prevent it from ending up in our waterways.

Please provide 2+ examples of student voice on the kit's impact on them Student 1 - it has helped us a lot, it reminds me not to leave my rubbish lying around. Makes me think about how many animals in the ocean are being killed. Student 2 - people know not to leave their rubbish lying around so the sea animals don't die from the rubbish lying around like the sea turtles and the jelly fish.

What was the most interesting piece of rubbish found and why? A squishy ball and heaps of food lying underneath our decks. Did not expect to find so much food wasted and a toy.
The Sea Cleaners 23 kit was a huge hit with my Year 3/4 class. It helped them to understand how what they do in their personal environment can affect not only the wider community but the oceans as well. They enjoyed using the gloves to clean up their own school environment and the posters inspired them to research the different sea creatures that are affected by pollution.
