Which kit components were the most impactful and why? We found using Google maps to show the local area really useful. They had a long talk about the area and were able to make connections about where they live and where their rubbish is going when it get washed into the drain system.

How has this kit impacted your class culture toward whenua ora (land wellness) and sustainability? My students were much more aware of how much rubbish they were creating and where it was going to go.
What is the legacy this kit will leave behind on your learners? We can all make a difference to the ocean, no matter how small we might be.

What was the most interesting piece of rubbish found and why? We found lots of old supermarket plastic shopping bags and 4 and a half bottles. We found these interesting as they had been shredded by the mower! Plus plastic shopping bags have not been available for a long time.
My Year 1/2 were really engaged throughout the Sea Cleaners Kit. They loved the idea that the were going to stop rubbish from entering the sea and help save sea animals. Thet were super excited to use their gloves and were much more proactive in cleaning up their Junior playground after completing the School Kit.

Please provide 2+ examples of student voice on the kit's impact on them "I am picking up the rubbish in the park!" - 5 year old at lunchtime noticing the rubbish in the school playground and showing it to the teacher. "It is sad to see the litter in the awa!!" - 5 year old at the stream observing the rubbish in the awa.
Which kit components were the most impactful and why? The kids loved having the gloves with the words on them.

How has this kit impacted your class culture toward whenua ora (land wellness) and sustainability? We used the kit as a part of a school wide focus on looking after our planet, which has gone on to be a part of a longer term focus for the school.
What is the legacy this kit will leave behind on your learners? They loved being out in nature, protecting nature but also just have a bit of fun.

What was the most interesting piece of rubbish found and why? It surprised us that there was soo little rubbish at the creek. We had cleaned it as a school previous and found sooo much rubbish.
My tamariki loved the sea cleaners kit. It was a joy to see them out in nature and noticing the effects of humans on our environment.

Please provide 2+ examples of student voice on the kit's impact on them The wind and the rain make the rubbish go out to the sea. This can be bad for the sea creatures as they think the rubbish is food or can caught in it.
Which kit components were the most impactful and why? The gloves- they loved having their own special pair that added into our daily routine. They spoke a lot about the learning with their whanau.

How has this kit impacted your class culture toward whenua ora (land wellness) and sustainability? The students understand being a kaitiakitanga and have been thinking about how to reduce lunchbox rubbish in our school.

We loved using our Sea Cleaners kit out at New Brighton Beach in Term 1 of this year. We managed to find a huge amount of rubbish hiding in the sand dunes! We felt we saved lots of animals from danger and death.

We are going to do it every weekend"- Zayne. "I loved how we got to go out and do things that will make our environment safer for us and all the other things that live in our world"- Jason
Which kit components were the most impactful and why? Having all the gear for the actual clean up day was really beneficial - gloves, bags etc
How many bags of rubbish did your class collect? We actually ended up going to our local wetland area with out entire team over the course of a day to do a big clean up. Some of what we collected was garden waste so was spread back or composted. But in total, we ended up with 9 bags of rubbish across the group.

What was the most interesting piece of rubbish found and why? Nothing super interesting but lots of chip and processed food wrappers
My class absolutley loved doing this kit. As a group, they are real eco-warriors and enjoyed the challenges and activities posed within the kit. Being outside, invovled in solving real-world problems allowed the children to see possible opportunities to further their thinking moving forward - some have even got their whole family on board and are doing weekly clean ups along the shore near them. Highly recommend this kit and will definitely do again.

How has this kit impacted your class culture toward whenua ora (land wellness) and sustainability? My class is still little but they are beginning to grasp the idea of taking care of the land we live in and how creatures can be hurt if we do not do our job.

What was the most interesting piece of rubbish found and why? It was general beach rubbish! Our beach is relatively clean due to the area we live in and the effort people make to take care of the beach.
I used the kit with a year1/2 class. The kit was amazing and very high quality. It was easy to use and there were so many ideas that came out of the teaching and learning we were able to do with this. I would highly reccomend this kit.

This kit is awesome. So great having the gloves and rubbish bags provided. The posters that you can collate the types of rubbish you found are great so that you can reflect on the days clean up.
