What is the legacy this kit will leave behind on your learners? Acknowledging that social media has a big influence on them, and that a lot of the goals they are trying to attain are impossible. And that they are all in the same boat together.

Was there a particular component that struck a chord with your class? The daily check ins - students really liked to have a quiet and private chance to let me know if something challenging was going on for them. The students quickly took charge of prepping this each morning and checking in with anyone who had forgotten to put their token in the box!

How has this the kit influenced the way in which students speak to each other? In some ways. I was unable to complete the media statements part of the kit. I did notice the students being more aware of how to respond to one another if they could see a classmate was behaving in a way that was unusual for them.

Which response stood out most? We did not complete the statistical inquiry section of the kit unfortunately, due to time and other school commitments.

What is the legacy this kit will leave behind on your learners? To think about what sits behind their responses to different situations; think before they respond. The trusted adult 'letters' were also a special standout for the students, as they loved to read the caring thoughts their loved ones shared.

“This kit provides opportunities for students to reflect on their emotions and think about how they're feeling day-to-day, what might be impacting on this, how to support themselves and others through times when they might be feeling low. As well as this, students can reflect on important and safe people in their lives, the values they have built through their relationships with others, and how certain opinions and value statements can impact their (and others') self-esteem and confidence.”

“This would be a good unit to do in Term 1, unfortunately we did it much later in the year and most of the activities were things my class had already covered- special people, asking for help, differences, strengths and weaknesses etc I would recommend it for Term 1.”

“The Resolving Conflict Cards were really helpful with the scenarios and the helpful tips to resolve conflict. It made the lesson enjoyable and gave the students good insight on how to handle conflict. The What you Need to feel better slips were also really helpful and a holistic approach to address the needs of the students.”
