How has this the kit influenced the way in which students speak to each other? One of our school values is Empathy so this encouraged students to think before they speak and the tone that they use. We discussed 'actions speak louder than words'. 'treat others as you wish to be treated' and 'show me don't tell me'.

What is the legacy this kit will leave behind on your learners? I love the fact that it has encouraged some of my diverse learners to develop a higher self-confidence and feel valued. They are dealing with their emotions a lot better than they did last year in another class. They are also accepting that everyone is different and we need to be responsive or empathetic to the needs of others.

Was there a particular component that struck a chord with your class? Most children really enjoyed the check in box as they liked that I could understand if they were having an off day which means I would give them extra support in their learning

“The self esteem kit was great on managing students feelings and understanding what was going on at home. On days when children seemed a bit off they had put their token in the low area of the check in box. It shows there a reasons the children act the way they do. It also allowed be to learn a bit about their home life.”

“The self-esteem kit was an easy-to-use resource to support our learning of emotional awareness and control. I found this resource deep and meaningful to students as it asked tough questions for reflection and explored their values. Furthermore, the self-check-in was great to get a quick insight into their feeling for the day, with some pick-me-ups to brighten their day. It was great to see whānau engagement with tasks, particularly in my circle of trust. A great resource and one I highly recommend.”
