How did the activity help students make connections between circuit theory and real-world applications? It was a good way start making connections.

“I used this at year 6 to 8 where self esteem is fluid, students are developing a sense of who they are and their place in the world. This resource helped me to build a unit of work to use at this level to help my students start to build a concrete sense of self esteem.”

How has this the kit influenced the way in which students speak to each other? I only had this class for a couple of hours so although I felt that they engaged well with the content during the lessons it would be difficult for me to assess how well it influenced how they interacted with students going forward.

How did the activity help students make connections between circuit theory and real-world applications? We did not have time to reflect on this unfortunately.

“I used some of the content as part of a Year 12 course in Well-being. We used the 'Circle of influence' sheets and then filled in the letter for one of the students most trusted adults which I thought was really good for the students to think about who would be there for them if they needed support, and they enjoyed acknowledging one of these people. However with the time constraints I had for this topic I would not recommend this course as I feel it needed more time devoted to it to get the full benefit.”

“The Self-Esteem 24 school kit has been a fantastic addition to our classroom resources. While we didn't end up using every single piece, we found the content to be high-quality and easy to adapt. We've actually been able to pull out various activities and lessons to use throughout the year, which makes the kit feel even more valuable. The parents in my class also had great feedback and really appreciated the focus on building confidence in their children. Overall, I'm very happy with this kit and would recommend it.”

Was there a particular component that struck a chord with your class? We began by using the daily Rise and Shine check-in cards each morning, and these have now become a regular part of our routine. Alongside this, we run a digital check-in form where students reflect on how ready they are for the day, both emotionally and socially. The cards provided a helpful structure for this process and give our students a safe way to let us know if they need support

How has this the kit influenced the way in which students speak to each other? The children are kinder to one another, however the biggest change was in how they speak about themselves. I have noticed that they are less critical and more resilient when they make a mistake in class.

What is the legacy this kit will leave behind on your learners? Yes they have continued to use the daily check in - but it is digital now! I think they are now more reflective on their needs and we as teachers are more aware of their emotional wellbeing.

How did the activity help students make connections between circuit theory and real-world applications? I feel like I taught significant parts of this unit but I don't remember this specifically.

“I really enjoyed teaching the Dove Self-Esteem Kit to my tauira this year. It fit seamlessly into supporting our students during such a significant developmental stage as they prepare to leave primary school. I was particularly inspired to combine the class poem planning with the kit’s resources, creating a theme around Pink Shirt Day. The students wrote incredible poems about what “pink” means to them, which left them feeling empowered and inspired. We also had meaningful discussions about ‘safe adults,’ which was especially valuable in preparing them for the Keeping Ourselves Safe unit we will be teaching in Term 4, alongside our community constables.”

“This is marketed for child years five to eight I have a year five and six class and most of the activities are at a higher level than they were able to acess. Some activities I would not do because not all students have a role model or safe adult at home to talk to so it wouldn't be fair on them.”
