“Self esteem 24 has been a good unit to start the year with a new class. I used different parts of the unit, depending on what I thought the kids would benefit from. They linked all of their feelings particularly to Zones of Regulation. A really nice blend.”

How has this the kit influenced the way in which students speak to each other? One of the most noticeable impacts of this kit was the way it influenced the language and interactions between students. It opened up meaningful dialogue among them, encouraging conversations that may not have otherwise happened. The kit provided practical scripts and phrases that students could use in everyday situations, giving them the tools to speak more kindly to themselves and to each other.

What is the legacy this kit will leave behind on your learners? As for the legacy this resource will leave behind, it has equipped our learners with a foundation of positive self-talk and respectful communication that will hopefully carry through into future years. It worked particularly well as an end-of-year project, complementing our sexuality education unit by deepening students’ understanding of identity, self-worth, and relationships.

“We used the School Kit Self-Esteem kit with our students back in 2024, and it proved to be a highly engaging and valuable resource. The students particularly enjoyed the interactive components, which kept them interested and involved throughout. The integration of external resources, such as the Dove Self-Esteem Project links, helped strengthen the key messages and provided relatable, real-world connections for our learners. Overall, the Self-Esteem kit was a valuable addition to our teaching programme, offering both immediate benefits and lasting positive influence on our students' confidence and social interactions.”

“The self Esteem kit was great! I reccomend doing it at the start/middle of the year instead of the end of the year like I did as I feel it would be more benefical before students really start hitting the puberty stages.”

“The kit was good, a bit more intense then previous kits I've had. Some of the resources were a bit over my year 3 students heads but we were able to adapt it to suit their understanding. My year 4's loved it all and got a lot out of it. What I noticed the most was their communication enhancing between eachother during daily lessons throughout the term, and their ability to share their thougts and feelings in a positive way. They were able to learn new ways to create and find that they can give themselves praise.”

“At the start of the year, my class had a very low growth mindset and was not very positive about learning. I wanted to try anything and everything to change their mindsets. The self-esteem box has been a great supporting resource, and I have seen an improvement in their growth mindset.”
