How did students approach the car modification challenge, and what innovative solutions did they come up with? We only had a few modifications as not everyone got to that part and our group of 38 Y6 learners had to work in pairs to ensure everyone had a car

What feedback have you received from students or parents about the learning in this kit? Everyone loved the involvement in building their cars and then the race challenge at the end.
We used the Solar powered cars to link in with our learning about renewable and non-renewable energy units we did through WP. This was great as my learners already had the background regarding how solar energy worked and how it was created. We focused on the wiring and why the heatshrinkwrapping was necessary when connecting wires. We extended our learning about how the gears work and how they make wheels rotate. We found it interesting having all cars wired red to red and black to black yet one car only moved in rotation and another in reverse.

What feedback have you received from students or parents about the learning in this kit? Kids loved the change in our learning. We followed up with a MOTAT visit
great kit with awesome resources to teach all of the concepts. A bit fiddly for my age - year 4 and 5 but some did a marvellous job and kept theirs together. Others lost bits (after all the responsibility chats) and were too rough with them and ended up with broken parts.

What feedback have you received from students or parents about the learning in this kit? Students were completely engaged and excited with this kit.
I think this was the best kit yet although all the kits that I have used are pretty amazing. This kit was a the most hands on for the students. There was a lot of skills being learned and it really helped them develop resilience. Students did so well following the instructions and assembling the cars themselves with very little help from me. They supported each other.

What feedback have you received from students or parents about the learning in this kit? Some students showed their parents their solar cars after school and parents thought it was a great learning activity.
The Solar Car activity was great. All students were engaged and excited to make their own solar car. Those students who struggled were able to work in a larger group so that they had the support they needed from their peers and myself, if needed. The competitive nature of some students definitely came out. These individuals wanted to win when we raced the solar cars. Students talked about the need for more sun so that their cars could go further and faster. When the class tested their solar cars, it was a very serious business as the class did not want one person or group to have any advantage.
