How did students approach the car modification challenge, and what innovative solutions did they come up with? My students struggled immensely and got very frustrated. They couldn't figure it out, and we had to get outside help

What feedback have you received from students or parents about the learning in this kit? They didn't like it, and complained that is was too hard, and didn't work
This was not a successful kit. The cars were too hard to put together, needed extra parts that didn't come with the kit, and fell apart a lot requiring glue to keep the cars together. The instructions were confusing, and if you put a part on wrong the car either didn't go at all, or ran backwards. This kit would be better for an intermediate or college class, not a year 4 to 6 as suggested.

What feedback have you received from students or parents about the learning in this kit? The kids really enjoyed the process. Most of them shared that it was one of their highlights of their inquiry this term
The Solar Cars were amazing, the kids loved it. The instructions were easy to follow and the kids were able to assembly the car by themself

How did students approach the car modification challenge, and what innovative solutions did they come up with? They had an issue to begin with by putting the motors in the wrong way and the car went backwards. It was a good test of resilience and problem solving which most kids dealt with really well!

What feedback have you received from students or parents about the learning in this kit? Students liked the hands on nature of the kit and the ability to work with others.
This kit was very engaging for our students. There was lots of problem-solving that happened to get the solar cars running. Some went backwards, to begin with, but with some problem-solving and teamwork, I fixed the problem. It was rewarding to see how students supported one another to complete the solar car. The testing of the cars to compare weight and speed was very successful. It encouraged students to compare and modify their cars and then compare the data. A great activity for all students in our senior hubs.

How did students approach the car modification challenge, and what innovative solutions did they come up with? The student s attacked this part with zest and vigour but did not follow the instructions very well. The modified the cars before they tested the original design in some cases because the parts were difficult to fit.

What feedback have you received from students or parents about the learning in this kit? The student loved the concept and were really excited by it, particularly te modification process.
Students enjoyed the construction - the instructions were a little bit challenging, however the students managed. Perhaps the wires shouldhave been more pared back so they were easier to attach.

How did students approach the car modification challenge, and what innovative solutions did they come up with? The students followed the basic design, and made a few modifications to the size and shape of the car. Taught alongside Food trucks so they attempted to apply some of the factors for their food trucks to their car designs.

What feedback have you received from students or parents about the learning in this kit? The students were very engaged and loved the way they learned about energy usage. They enjoyed sharing their designs with the buddy class.
Excellent STEM activity. Students loved the challenge the kit provided. Gereat scaffolding provided in notes to enable students to experience success. Look forward to using this again next year with my STEM students.

What feedback have you received from students or parents about the learning in this kit? students have enjoyed, asking when they would next be working on it
Great school kit that allows students to explore solar power and the forces of motion. Helps students take care as the kit is quite fragile.

How did students approach the car modification challenge, and what innovative solutions did they come up with? They like being able to adapt with what they knew. Most of them tried to create something which had more solar panels to catch more sun. The problems they faced were the weight of these and how they needed to work on balancing their cars.

What feedback have you received from students or parents about the learning in this kit? They want to bring then out and try them under weather conditions.
We had a great opportunity to independently learn about solar power and how light from the sun can be converted into energy. The children were able to independently follow the instructions and enjoyed the fun element of it all. They were able to use what they learnt to demonstrate their understanding to children lower in the school.

What feedback have you received from students or parents about the learning in this kit? The students enjoyed the building the most.
Students enjoyed learning about the basics of pyshics and how solar power/panels work. They loved the hands on build, although some of it was a bit tight and fiddly. Unforetunwly we didn't have sun on our side so we had some very interesting conversations around solar power in a larger context and what happens when it is raining and over cast. Great group plans for modifications, unfortunately we didn't have time to get to executing it. A really well rounded project. My only complaint is that there was perhaps toooo much material to readwatch in the lead up.
