What feedback have you received from students or parents about the learning in this kit? The kids took their learning home and had some great conversations with the families. One of our parents commented that they had not seen their boy this excited about learning in a while.
This is such a great kit. The kids in our hub loved the learning, especially the boys. Great writing from the boys after the kit too.

What feedback have you received from students or parents about the learning in this kit? The students absolutely loved creating the cars, testing and redesigning. Problem shooting to solve issues that presented themselves and working collaboratively.
This was an amazing kit, all students were highly engaged and the excitement levels in the class were insane! Lots of learning while having huge amounts of fun, thank you so much for the outstanding resources!

Solar cars are a brilliant activity that can be used up to Year 10 for physics and general science. It supports theoretical teaching and creates a hands-on opportunity to understand and extend ideas.

How did students approach the car modification challenge, and what innovative solutions did they come up with? I showed them the 'control' car i had made and there seemed to be 2 groups - the follow the rules and make it like the instructions group, and the ohhh how can I change that group.

What feedback have you received from students or parents about the learning in this kit? The children really enjoyed the process and were generally fully engaged. Several parents had mentioned that their children had been raving about this project.
I really enjoyed this kit. I really appreciated the huge range of resources available to preload the children with and to further my own learning and understanding. The cars were so much fun. 99% of children were fully engaged and invested in making their cars the very best they could be, and I believe really saw the benefits of planning, testing and trying again. Highly recommended!

What feedback have you received from students or parents about the learning in this kit? Just that they thoroughly enjoyed this kit.
Highly engaging topic for our Year 7/8 students. They loved this and all worked so well and on task. This is something they still use now. Love how the learning was interwoven into hands-on learning. Only suggestion would be to provide more kits.

How did students approach the car modification challenge, and what innovative solutions did they come up with? They loved doing the car modification! Some added weights, others took apart part of their cars. They would tell me it wasn't needed anyway for the car to work!

What feedback have you received from students or parents about the learning in this kit? Great kit, I am hoping it will be back again next year!!
The tamariki had great fun learning about the different power sources, and how the cars worked. The loved the hands on element where they got to make the balloon cars first. Some tamariki got a little disheartened when these didn't work as well as others, but this enabled us to to talk about resilence and about not giving up. It was great to see that those that were struggling were supported by other students! When they got to build the solar cars, I have never seen them so excited to get outside and try them out! The only problem we had was the weather!. The second race was even better with all the alterations.

How did students approach the car modification challenge, and what innovative solutions did they come up with? The students had to approach modifying their cars many times as some wouldn't move, some went backwards, some went in circles! While there very variying degrees of frustration and surprise, it was really neat to hear them problemsolve, move weights around ...even attaching chalk to the car so they could measure the distance travelled if the car didnt travel in a straight line.

What feedback have you received from students or parents about the learning in this kit? Most students really enjoyed the hands on element while learning with this kit. they liked seeing what would happen when they modified the car or the course. We are looking forward to bringing them out again this term, now that its a but drier and sunnier, to try a few more modifications and explore the concepts further..
Our year 5&6 class had some great learning experiences with the Solar Car kits. Everything needed is included in the kits and the students demonstrated perseverance, problem solving, and team work while making their cars. The video resources were helpful once it was time to explore energy transformation and the students loved taking the cars outside to experiment with this first hand.
