How did students approach the car modification challenge, and what innovative solutions did they come up with? They were enthusiastic and determined. A real sense of competition. Innovations included (mainly) changing the position of the solar panel and the removal of 'unnecessary' bits of wood.

What feedback have you received from students or parents about the learning in this kit? Exciting. Fun. One recommendation - encourage partipants to take a clear photo of the instructions and enlarge them! Often instructions were too tiny.
What an incredible kit! The contents and equipment created a real buzz.

How did students approach the car modification challenge, and what innovative solutions did they come up with? Students struggled with this as they didn't go very fast without weights. They also just loved playing with them. There was lot of problem solving as some went backwards, and they had to work out why, and others wouldn't go and thy had to work out why, this took up a lot of discussion time.

What feedback have you received from students or parents about the learning in this kit? The wires where hard to put together for little fingers.
Solar car kit was good, students enjoyed racing them and there was lots of discussion around why they did not work inside the classroom, even though there was light. Had to get parent helpers in for my Year 4 class to make the kits and some needed to be glued together to stay together. Some of the teacher material was good, some was silly/weird. this kit tied nicely into our inquiry in Term 2 of Forces and Energy

How did students approach the car modification challenge, and what innovative solutions did they come up with? They tried to change the angle of the solar pad, add extra weight in a particular spot, add graphite to the wheels and smooth the edges of the tyres.

What feedback have you received from students or parents about the learning in this kit? They said that is was a really fun and engaing learning activity. They loved the opportunity to apply their learning in a practical way.
We were very grateful for the free kit for building, testing, modifying, and racing solar cars with children. The kids learned valuable skills through teamwork by following instructions to assemble the vehicles. They solved problems, like when the car moved backwards. By experimenting with adaptations to improve speed, and applying Newton's three laws of motion, the children were doing valuable learning all while having lots of fun. If there was one drawback or challenge it was finding enough sunny days to maintain continuity and excitement. This kit would be ideal for use in terms 1 or 4 when the weather is sunnier. Overall, this was a fantastic educational tool that combined fun and learning. Thanks for sending us a kit.

What feedback have you received from students or parents about the learning in this kit? the children were quite surprised to see how easy the construction was.
This children really enjoyed the construction of these cars. Thank you for the instructions. The girls followed these well, whereas, the boys took a lot longer and required more assistance. The video that was provided wasn't a complete video of 'how to construct'. Could this be remedied for next time?

Students had a whole term of learning about sources of engery. It was awesome to end the term learning about solar engergy and Newton's laws as well as have hands on experience of making the solar cars and seeing how it all comes together.

The Solar Car Kit was a great resource. Easy to teach and guide the students through. Lots of pieces that were easily lost but we improvosed and the children enjoyed making them. Thank you for the great learning experience. The children will remember this fondly as the year progresses.
