How effective was the "Vet School" component in engaging students in the diagnostic process?

How did this resource help students understand process of elimination using data analysis? Students found it hard at first to really read and interpret the data but this is because we used the kit with a 3/4 classroom. They often struggled with explaining their thinking if they weren't able to eliminate something (e.g. the wood allergy in the wolf) but this was often because they had already found their cause.

What feedback have you received from students or parents about the learning in this kit? Lots of parents have been commenting on how much the children have been enjoying the learning and how much conversation they're having about it at home. The student's are eager to learn more about it each week.

“My class absolutely loved learning more about the vets' processes used to diagnose and treat animals. They enjoyed being able to apply this knowledge and make connections to the real world and animals they have or know of. The physical resources supplied by Anexa were fantastic in building a high level of engagement but also for solving what was wrong with each of the different animals.”

What feedback have you received from students or parents about the learning in this kit? The students loved the focus on animals and have found this theme very rewarding.

“We have worked through the Story Vets kit this term and it's been an amzing resource. The students have loved becoming animal experts and diagnosing various animal ailments. Most of my class live on farms so this theme has been so relevant. We supplemented the kit by visiting our local vets to see how they gather TPR and use other specific tests and treatments. We also branched out into a science unit on animal classification - All linked to our Story VEts Theme.”

I think a lot of students didn't realise how much there is to the job - and only know what they've seen with their own animals going to the vets. Some have seen vet TV programs so had slightly more knowledge to begin with.
