“This was a most excellent Schoolkit. Our Inquiry topic was Life and Living, with one of the Enduring Understandings being - All living things need certain conditions to thrive. The Story Vets fitted in so well. I can say all the children were engaged, from the wondering about the animal pamphlets filched from the local vet, to the fairytales (I have some EAL children who were unfamiliar with all the tales) and to the actual diagnosis. It was great to see some of my lesser able writers coming to the fore with their logic and questioning, being admired by their peers. And to top it off, I fluked a principal observation on one of the afternoons we were using the QR codes and asking for test results. She loved it, and commented on how 'on task' everyone was. There was an excited buzz in the room. I have carefully packed this away to use next year, I can see wonderful links to literacy, even if it doesn't exactly link to that Inquiry topic.
