How did this resource help students understand process of elimination using data analysis? A mix of success. A class of diverse learners, the more able students did well. Extra help and differentiation needed to the lower levels.

“My Year 7 students had a good time learning from the Story Vets kit. Very interesting and seemed to be something for most students to be engaged in. Appreciated that there was some good skills based activities. Students have improved their understanding of what is involved in being a vet.”

How did this resource help students understand process of elimination using data analysis? It took a while for them to get started but once they understood the expectation they were aboe to go forward enthusiastically.

They loved the interactive aspects and what a vet needs to do to make a diagnosis, It was encouraging to see how many thought that being a vet may be a career they may one day want to follow, whereas before it had not been a thought.

What feedback have you received from students or parents about the learning in this kit? The children were keen to go and speak to their parents (especially the ones who live on farms and raise animals) and check some of the 'tests', respiration, temperature, pulse, on their animals at home on the farm.
“The children thoroughly enjoyed Story Vets. Coming from a rural school I thought the children would enjoy the kit. Some of them surprised us with their in-depth knowledge of the various patients. They loved listening to and trying to count the heartbeats, especially Mrs H Penny. Some detailed discussions were had and it was interesting to see the collaborative discussions that took place while the children tried to make a diagnosis.”

What feedback have you received from students or parents about the learning in this kit? They loved the use of fictional characters as it added some more element of fun to it!
“This was a fun and interactive way to introduce narratives for our writing programme. We then moved onto being vets in teams. The collaboration and excitment was next level. They dressed up and set up vet stations in the class. Every child was engaged as they worked through the processes of diagnosing their animal. We had a huge group of children who want ot be vets or vet nurses, so the hands on expereinces created some deep learniing opporutnites. Again the prompts sent out in the pack and the resources already found online were engaing and helpful. It's always such a pleasure to teach from a Schoolkit - thank you!!”
