What was the community impact of your volunteering project? The students were able to plan effectively. Look beyond and discuss how everyone has a major role to play. Members of community groups were included in discussions with students allowing for all parties to feel that their opinion matters.

“What a fantastic resource to support students to learn to fundraise for a charity. The kit helped them to work through each step and enabled each platoon to create a successful event. Students were motivated by the bracelets and badges and gave each member of the platoon a responsibility. After giving each charity the donations, they felt really good. Reflecting on their learning, students identified lots of learning they had done to create such an event and how anyone can make a difference. I loved the team work and collaboration. Other skills learnt were cooperation, negotiation and communication.”

“This was a fun project with the kids really involved and engaged. My problem early on was finding something close to school based around the waterways, which was the children's interest. With Covid-19 restrictions, leaving school for the day was going to be a challenge. But once decided, it went really well.”
