Excellent project. Tied this into our Sustainability unit and students got behind looking after our local environment. Students created individual projects that could help locals. They then went and completed a volunteer day planting trees, picking up rubbish and cleaning.

What was the community impact of your volunteering project? Our youngest learners are finding school hard, the COVID impact has meant that they are coming to school with often challenging behaviours. Our SVA leaders are mentoring them in the playground, and utilised the kit to plan a mini fun day project for them,

I have had the pleasure of supporting over the years social skills groups of students - great kids who have some social skill development required. The SVA kit allowed us to develop goal setting, strategies for dealing with conflict, how to be a role model and leader and importantly the values of commitment and service. They learned to put others first, and to serve in order to make their school a better place. We had fun together, and our social action includes making great use of 60 litres of slime (expired jelly) to make a mini fun day for our youngest learners in the school. Thank you for the valuable opportunity to participate!

What was the community impact of your volunteering project? We targeted 2 classes at school. Due to Covid restrictions and timetabling, it was decided to use this as a platform.

Fantastic kit! Really enjoyed sharing the origins of SVA. Did have to modify it to make it smaller and more manageable due to timetable constraints and trying to fit every part of the curriculum in. We combined it with Pink Shirt Day - reduced the amount of leaderships roles, but everyone applied for the positions after identifying their strengths.

For the past two years our school has run Community Impact Projects for our year 7/8 students and this year was to include our year 9 students as well. We had scheduled for this to run in term 2 or 3 in 2020, this just didn't happen. Honestly our plans for the year went up in smoke and we just didn't have the time to put into running a full SVA project even in term 4. We have run a modified version for year 9's with leadership workshops and them planning and carrying out activities within the school during term 4 but time constraints and timetable commitments have had an effect on this. I felt that it was better to be honest and tell you what it has been like for us rather than not submit feedback at all. I really like the sound of your plans for 2021 where we can fit School Kits into out planning rather than the other way around.

This has been an awesome way for my Year 7 class to finish this year. It's taken us a while to get started, but the process has been so easy to follow it's been super motivating. The resources, roles and systems have sparked many discussions in our classroom and the kids are engaged and passionate about our project, wanting to see if they can continue to build on our concept next year.

Thanks, the resource was full of great ideas and easy to modify for lower age groups. Unfortunately we didn't get time to implement all of the ideas due to factors outside our control. Cheers Judith
