This kit fitted well with one of our school community projects to help plant the coastal riverside of a local camping ground working with local iwi and the District Council. While at Onearo Bay we were shown soe old penguin nesting boxes and were asked if we would like to create signage for uses of the facility to alert the public to the penguin nesting area. Students worked with the Council to paint pictures which were made into professional signs which the students erected. Students are now going to work with our Enviroschools facilitator to construction so new penguin nesting boxes.

What was the community impact of your volunteering project? Our outdoor play area is also being used by the community outside school hours. The students decided that we can decorate the area to make it more appealing. We painted old tyres and planted in them. It was a huge success and was appreciated by many. Than

What was the community impact of your volunteering project? We made cards for people in a local rest home. It was really nice for the children to link how receiving makes them feel, to pass this feeling onto others.

Apologies for not corresponding sooner. I had planned to cover this SVA kit in term 2 however we had a particularly difficult situation to deal with that term, therefore I pushed it to term 3, and of course covid struck. I'm really hoping we return to the classroom next term and therefore complete the kit, as it's contents are perfect for the situation we find ourselves in.
