The application process was confusing. I applied for Term 3 and received in Term 3 (I had not registered or heard of School kits in Term 2. However all my emails have been titled overdue Term 2 feedback. I also received one kit and then got an email saying another kit was on its way as my class had been chosen to receive a funded kit. I believe it would be more beneficial if the funded SVA kits were organised together with the applied kits so that there aren't double ups. My principal had got the email for the funded kit and I had applied for my own kit beforehand. However, another class in the school was already volunteering in the community and just added the kit to their learning which was very useful. Despite this though, due to covid and the lockdowns in level 3 my class did not have as much opportunity to complete the SVA kit as we would have liked. Due to being a small school in an lower socio economic area, I had no students logging into online work or using homepacks. This made using this kit over term 3 very difficult. I feel this kit wouod be much more useful over lockdown and in class in a bigger school with students who would be able to interact over lockdown. As I have a smaller class the amount of wristbands I received were more than enough. It might be beneficial to make different sized kits for schools with smaller numbers, as you do for the year 9 and 10 kits that may have multiple classes and more kids.

Unfortunately this was too hard for my tamariki - I got an email telling me it was too tricky for juniors - which was great but the pack got dropped off to school anyway.

What type of project did your class undertake? Greenspace Project
Our class plan was to be involved in a community project and plant up a greenspace in the local area. Communicating with people was slow and then covid lockdown interferred with our initial plan. With the time available we then switched to a school projct involving cleaning up an outside space which had been let go for over 12 moonths.

What was the community impact of your volunteering project? Community felt supported - we created some displays for the local Spring Fling. They were feeling overwhelmed and a little stressed due to the impact of the Lockdown on timeframes.

Was really good to engaged the class in something fun - we have done some volunteering, but haven't been as explicit in teaching them the facets of volunteering.

What type of project did your class undertake? Greenspace Project
This kit looks really awesome. Unfortunately we've had so many disruptions this year (my school is in Auckland) that we didn't get to finish using it. Our project will carry over into next term though so I'm sure we'll be able to use a bit more of it then. Thanks so much to everyone who helped put together such a cool kit - it really helped inspire my learners :)
