Great kit. Kids loved that they got to work with others members in our hub to come up with project ideas. Our hub decided to do a food drive to help out our local kai shed. We were able to repurpose empty boxes that we had been given, and decorated these in a festive manner.

What was the community impact of your volunteering project? e hope that by encouraging bees and other helpful insects to our garden area, that our school gardens will prosper. We have also had a worm farm in the class and the fruit waste from school lunches has been feeding the worms-their worm wee will be diluted

We chose to 'beautify' part of a school garden that is a bit of a 'wilderness' as it was meant to be an insect haven. We have planted sunflowers from seeds, and planted them out once they were sturdy enough to fend for themselves in the garden area. We also planted and transplanted pansies, and have designed bee friendly bee homes to try to encourage bees to hibernate and 'stay around' our school area. This was a totally hands on activity that the children wholeheartedly embraced-I have never had a class so keen to get their hands into soil and grow plants from seed.

What was the community impact of your volunteering project? This is still a work in progress. Discussions with the students indicate their desire to volunteer in the community. Time is against us in terms of completing this element of their learning this year.

What type of project did your class undertake? Fundraising
It has focused the children to learn about an area that interests them and collaborate with peers who they wouldn't necessarily work with. The resource was helpful in terms of sparking ideas.

What was the community impact of your volunteering project? The local river really benefitted from the clean up day we organized. The local iwi got involved and we all felt so good about contributing to our local area in a positive way.

We really enjoyed this schoolkit, it brought out the best in our students. They all chose a role that suited them and they excelled. Thank you School Kit for another success story for our children.

We were lucky enough to receive this kit just before lockdown. I had to adapt it but it was great to see children identifying their strengths and recognising what they had to offer. Since returning on site two weeks ago, students are now planning our end of year action. Due to restrictions we are going to finish the year cleaning, sorting, pruning and getting our streets beautiful.

This is the 4th time I have used this kit and I have found it better each time. It was nice to have a new kit this time as I have been reusing it. The students quickly get involved and come up with great ideas. Our one this time has been making a skipping area and teaching others in the school to skip. This has been very successful. Thank you.
