What type of project did your class undertake? Greenspace Project
This is an amazing resource for bringing students together to plan a real-life project with an authentic outcome. I underestimated the time it would take and we have had many other initiatives going on in our school so we will keep working on it this term. I have answered the following questions based on predicted outcomes.

What was the community impact of your volunteering project? Our students share a common love for animals, and this was their underlying motivation to support SPCA. They contacted SPCA to find out where their greatest need was at this time of year, so they could target those needs accordingly. Our students rallied

What type of project did your class undertake? Fundraising
This was an amazing resource. My students really enjoyed the opportunity to be part of a student -lead volunteer project from beginning to end. They gained a lot of insight into 'how much work' was needed to successfully complete their project, and realised that each person played a significant role. This project was very successful in engaging the class, and reminding them that collaborating was imperative to reach their agreed goal of fundraising to support their targeted community group. Thank you for creating an awesome opportunity for our students to experience, and grow from this Student Volunteer Project!

What was the community impact of your volunteering project? For many students this was the first opportunity to volunteer in the community. The impact was positive both for the project and the community.

We finished Term 4 with the SVA kit. It was, as usual a wonderful kit. Our senior school volunteered to help in our local ‘Mangemangeroa Reserve’. This beautiful coastal reserve has many native plants and our year 5 and 6 students helped by removing the tree protectors. We have helped for the last 5 years so the protectors removed were from trees planted by our seniors 4 or 5 years ago. Thank you School Kit.

The kit looks fantastic. We ended up using the activities as a provocation. This time around, our students created technological solutions to community problems. Next year, we will reuse the kit in the way intended; we'll harness people power in a social action. Thanks!

What type of project did your class undertake? Project for Those in Need
A great kit to get the children thinking beyond themselves and about potential issues and ways to help within the wider community. Originally I got the kit for a Yr 2-4 class but decided it was a bit too difficult for them so used it with a Yr 5-6 class and it was great.

What was the community impact of your volunteering project? So far we aren’t sure about impact other than a few tears as Angels have touched some soft hearts. We think we have a winning outreach artifact to encourage others. We are collating these to create a diary of sorts, with our voices of encouragement plus r

What type of project did your class undertake? Other , Project for Those in Need, Staying in Touch from Afar
Our kit arrived in Term 4 ready for us to use our talents and skills in art, mathematics. social sciences, thinking/imagination and literacy. We made a plan as we listened to each other about our current needs. These needs looked like creating a taonga for our leaving year 8 friends, staff who are moving on and for family members who need a wee lift in spirits! Our ‘Angels of Encouragement’ booklet is almost done but thought we best send in our awesome thanks for this kit for inspiring us to look for the need and move into action. Students thought that a colouring in journal with encouraging words could make many others feel happier in a season of busyness and sometimes sadness too. Will share more - and the PDF version in our School Kit Community for others to enjoy should they like to see it!
