This kit was awesome - our class was totally inspired to serve others. We made Christmas boxes for healthcare workers, and everyone participated so well! The badges and wristbands were huge motivators, and all the other resources were top notch.

This kit was aligned with our kaitiakitanga of our maunga, Takuranga. (That we are lucky enough to be situated on). Students joined with our local community to weed and maintain Takuranga.

We have used the SVA 2022 this term and the students have really enjoyed it. We followed the process but for our project some of the jobs didnt really come into play so some kids were a bit disappointed with that (eg finance officer and caterer). It would have been great to some how have the badges with editable jobs as the kids loved the badges. They also loved the wristbands but wanted to know why they were 2021 not 2022! They did love our project of creating sustainable Christmas bags and boxes that we gave away in exchange for donations for the Foodbank or SPCA.

Love this kit. Time constraints with camp, social dance, fun days, showcase days and a short term made it tricky to use in it's entirety. We focused on working together as a team and using our strengths for assigning roles. Together we all chipped in to help organise and support volunteer programmes around the school that help our community.

What was the community impact of your volunteering project? As an IB/PYP school our students are often encouraged and subsiquently involved in community projects. For the Year 8s, this is a big part of their summative task. The kit was used to inspire action and to offer suggestions on how to organise themselves
