What was the community impact of your volunteering project? We made very crafty Christmas cards and wrote long stories for our local retirement village. We had heard that there are many lonely elderly people there and we wanted to bring some joy. Each card is a piece of Art and the stories are full of experiences

What was the community impact of your volunteering project? We head to our local reserve where the volunteers organise jobs for the group. All senior classes go, do there are almost 200 volunteers! We mulch, weed, repair and make connections.

“Unfortunately for reasons outside of our control we were not able to complete the kit as initially intended but what we were able to do was fantastic. Because we loop our classes for 2 years 50% of my students will be able to complete the project that we have started next year. “The students have all taken on different responsibilities. They have completed their own Risk Assessment Forms, Board of Trustee requests, made phones calls and sent emails. They have negotiated times and activities independently and shown great resourcefulness. They love their badges and have even requested to be allowed to wear their wristbands formally and have exception cards until the end of the year to be able to wear them.”
