How has the taste literacy of your students developed throughout this kit? Students were able to identify the neural and sensory pathway for how smell was processed.
A hands-on kit that had many very engaging experiments and activities. Students really enjoyed the smell cards! Unfortunately because of lockdown, we didn't get to complete the kit. I look forward to trying it out with my new class next year.

How did this kit promote student engagement and enjoyment around taste literacy/fair testing/reducing waste? How has the taste literacy of your students developed throughout this kit? A success, they now are aware and know different smells and what they are called. This kit was a success with my students in developing new learning about food and smells with cross-curricular learning such as vocabularies and descriptions.

How has the taste literacy of your students developed throughout this kit? We were to start with the experiments but went in lockdown for more than One Term, planned to do once back at school. Unfortunately only 3 to 5 students have been coming to school so couldn't take up the sessions.
Before using the kit students did brainstorming on healthy and unhealthy food, vegetarian and non vegetarian food, do we eat for taste or for remaining healthy.

How did this kit promote student engagement and enjoyment around taste literacy/fair testing/reducing waste? Our school receives BiteLAB lunches and OFTEN times, many of my students would complain about this item or that item, etc. Exploring this Kit helped them to recognise and understand more about their food and how their palettes work.

How has the taste literacy of your students developed throughout this kit? My students struggle with vocabulary in many ways, so we explored the different words we could use to describe different tastes and smells. We used the skill of expansion to generate complex vocabulary.
This kit was quite fun to do! The kids were very engaged and were asking to keep doing it after we had finished.

How has this kit help develop the resilience of your learners? Probably not a long term resilience as many seem to have crept back to their old ways...however, it would be useful to repeat with a new group of students who haven't had the opportunity to try school lunches before.

What opportunities have arisen for future learning from this kit? It's made me consider extending more learning opportunities about how the brain works in terms of perception and the senses.
How did this kit promote student engagement and enjoyment around taste literacy/fair testing/reducing waste? They really engaged with the scientific element of the kit and collecting data. I think seeing the 'reality' from the experiments was helpful.

How has the taste literacy of your students developed throughout this kit? I have some very reluctant students in my class, who were not keen to be brave. To be honest, at times, this really challenged some kids, but did help them to see that being open-minded is good.
The premise of the kit was really exciting and there were lots of strong literacy links, it really helped with the development of vocabulary and the activities were a lot of fun. The kids struggled with the sticker activity as the smells were quite over-powering. There were lots of interesting concepts introduced and it made the concept of changing a variable very clear with the different eating experiments. I would definitely re-use many of the activities in this kit with a different cohort.

How has the taste literacy of your students developed throughout this kit? I looked at the kit and am excited to try with my Year 5/6 students next year.
Unfortunately I wasn't aware that my kit had been delivered to school until almost the end of Term 2 and was planning to use it in Term 3 but we went into lockdown before I could use it with the class (Year 2). I will use this with my Year 5/6 students next year!

How has the taste literacy of your students developed throughout this kit? Since having the Lunches in Schools, the students have enjoyed discussing the components of what makes a good lunch etc. This kit supported a lot of these discussions.
The students loved the smelly stickers and the lead in to the kit. While the experiments were interesting they were quite hard to manage regarding placement of students and the conditions they completed the experiments.
