How has the taste literacy of your students developed throughout this kit? The Sandwich haiku was a cute task and in a context that appealed to them as learners. They learnt about adjectives and were able to build their vocabulary knowledge in science eg taste buds, senses etc.

“Wow what a journey this kit was. The experiments were exciting, hands on and specific to the scientific method (which we were learning). The students were able to discover how our senses can make an impact on what we eat and the flavours we sometimes think we are tasting just by looking at the colour of something. The blindfold activities made the students nervous but excited at the same time. We were able to use the taste vocabulary cards to help us recognise different smells and tastes and the students throughly enjoyed the smell reset activity as well. Thank you so much for this kit. It encouraged the students to experiment with the lunches, discuss and make predictions about why their eyes were telling them something different to their tastebuds. I was impressed with the vocabulary they learnt throughout this unit and highly recommend using it in your class.”

What opportunities have arisen for future learning from this kit? Due to COVD restrictions and other timetabled learning dictated by the school we were not able to take our learning any further other than incidental conversation and rich oppourtunities as they arose.

The students struggled to understand the idea of fair testing but that is not a reflection on the kit but instead of where my students are at with the oral language develop
