What made you decide to undertake a tax based programme and specifically the Part of something bigger kit for your students?
My Social Studies class were predominantly students that I hadn't seen in my commerce classes this year. They hadn't received this type of knowledge and would benefit from it.
If you were to re use this resource in the future, how would you see yourself doing this? (Eg, as a full unit, separately in other units of work, integrating into cross curricular lesson plans)
I would make it a main focus. This was an addition to the program normally taught and so squeezing it in was to the detriment of the kit. We only got partway through hence me not being able to answer the next two questions accurately.
How effective was the Melani interactive in increasing your students' understanding of tax?
How would you rate the change in your own understanding of Tax systems and what it contributes to, prior to engaging with the kit?
Which part/s of the kit did you find the most useful in supporting you to teach financial literacy and why?
I didn't get to finish the kit because of a variety of distractions at the end of the year. The class hours were taken for Junior exams (unexpectedly) which dropped three hours off our time, then they added a couple of teacher only days into the mix.
How would you rate the change in your students understanding of Tax systems and what it contributes to, prior to engaging with the kit?
Which part/s of the kit grabbed the attention of your students and engaged them the most?
the randomized issuing of job and the excitement of who got what job and how much the salary/wages would be.
How useful would you say the kit was at extending students overall financial literacy?
