What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Creating a class shared lunch/kai that is focused on healthy eating but still fun and enjoyable.

How did the context of baking a cake help engage your students in science and maths learning? Their understanding of measurement was quite low and this was the most learning that came out of this kit. The hands on experience in actually having to measure the ingredients was so helpful. Even looking at using a knife to level off the cups, we also u

What a success! Such a perfect kit for Term 4! The hands on engagement was just what my classroom needed to help us get through these final weeks. To be able to use many of our mathematical skills and practice new ones in a hands on way was perfect for the tamariki. It also linked to healthy eating which was a focus for us as we notice lots of sugar in the students lunch boxes. With the students working on projects in pairs it taught them to compromise on what they wanted in their cakes/ with what their partner wanted and what was going to work best. The only downside was we have only have one oven in the school which I didn't think about before hand. Next time I would do this in groups so we aren't all waiting for the oven.

This resource added real value to my programme. I used it as an extension for the Year 8'a as a Food Technology challenge. The kit has innovative ideas that allows the students to trial and reflect on their outcomes.

The kids had so much fun with the measuring and mixing component of this kit. They loved being able to swap out sugar for different sweet ingredients. It fitted in beautifully with our maths topic of fractions and measurement. Our school has just become part of lunches in schools so it was great for the kids to see that healthy food tastes great and doesn't need to contain sugar.

Great unit! Children absolutely loved it! Would definitely sign up again. My only suggestion is it was expensive to get all the ingredients so the $10 voucher was no where near enough. We spent at a class well over $50 on what we needed.

I'm sorry this feedback was delayed. I am afraid that I didn't actually get to use this myself. We ran out of time in Term 2 due to finishing boards for science fair. I didn't want it to gather dust on my shelf so I passed it onto my colleague to use this term as they were studying chemistry. I have asked her about it so am posting her feedback.

I think we rushed a little with the scientific thinking for this kit, we just missed a window due to lockdown to tie it in well with our inquiry learning. We did develop the student's understanding of scientific change and their perceptions around the taste of healthy foods.
