What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? As mentioned above, our new STEM lab is about to open and the content of the kit has sparked some excellent ideas for me about using a control, focusing on theories and then reviewing and creating a final product for a range of topics.

How did the context of baking a cake help engage your students in science and maths learning? Reflecting on the role of ingredients is a powerful way for students to think about why they would or would not put a quantity of an ingredients in - much more powerful than being told. Also it opens their minds to think well beyond sweet cakes.

Hello. I love the idea of the kit. Unfortunately, I have not had access to the classes I normally teach for weeks now as I have taken 5 year olds to 11 year olds who are the children of essential workers. We have had no access to cooking areas and have had restrictions up until recently on the sharing of equipment. I have a few Year 6 students so we have read through the chemistry chart together and looked at the cans. I am hoping to do some prediction work with them next week but unfortunately the cans will stay sealed until next year. Our brand new STEM lab with 4 ovens has been delayed in being signed off but will be available in 2022 so I am keen to use the kit then. Thank you so much for your patience and I apologise for not being able to get this working. I love the kits and some of my best teaching has come from them so I would be devastated to not get a chance in the future. Kind regards, Anita Knight from Sunnybrae Normal School. As the boxes below are compulsory, I have based my answers on exploring the box and discussing the process with some students.

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? I would definitely use something like this again. Unfortunately my time frames were too tight but I can see the potential to conduct a large scale investigation into baking, ingredient proportions and experimentation with multiple variables. There could b

The kit was great - I could figure out how to adapt it to year 4 but I can see the potential to take the learning further and deeper. The teacher notes were well written and had plenty of substance. I liked the recipe cards and the poster made a good display.

What future learning opportunities have arisen from this kit? Checking labels on products to see sugar content and those that say reduced sugar - how much is it reduced? My photo of the cakes would not upload for some reason.

This was a fantastic kit. My class really enjoyed making the three different cakes. I like how we did the control cake first before swapping things out. The parents also enjoyed hearing about what they did. In the last cake trial I let the students make some choices for themselves from fruit and veges they had at home. It was great being able to discover what the different ingredients did for the cake. Lots of amazing learning. i would definitely do this again.

This was a great kit that we were able to use with our large class of Year 7 and 8 students. They were already keen bakers in the kitchen, so this was a nice extension of some earlier learning we had worked through. The children were fascinated by the basic cake recipe anyhow it works. They had a lot of fun substituting and adding in vegetables.
