To consider creating food with less sugar or substituting other ingredients for sugar. To discover further chemical and physical processes and how they work and react.

How did the context of baking a cake help engage your students in science and maths learning? They all loved the hands on element and were able to identify and use units of weights successfully. They also gained understanding of physical and chemical changes.

How did the context of baking a cake help engage your students in science and maths learning? we have a specific emphasis on numeracy and literacy so use metrics and provide worksheets to encourage students to learn and use metric measureme3nts. reflections are written using full sentences and 5-10 words are required.

“I was so excited to get the package and all the products. So Year 7 and 8 students found it hard to follow the format of the recipe. I only have the students for a 2 hour block over a 4 week period. I modified the program a bit . i found similar recipes for fruit and vege muffins and then we used the products to make them. we then swapped some muffins between groups and reflected on the taste and shape and colour.”
