Fun, interactive programme to run. All our kids were really engaged and loved learning about how to substitute things like sugar for something healthier

Great kit to explore chemical reactions with. Kids loved the hands-on aspect and taste testing the different recipes they created. We took it a little further by writing recipes for our veggie cakes. One student even made it at home to share with their family. Lots of good learning about measurements as well.

The practical nature of this kit meant that it was engaging and motivating for my Year 7 and 8 students. We chose to dedicate some whole days to the Science and Health Curriculum while using the activities in this kit. Using our time in this way helped us to be resourceful with our ingredients and meant that there was less waste. The practical tests were conducted and we decided to make this into a competition with the best cake review being made again on a bigger scale to share with the students and teachers in our school community. I also like the way this kit encouraged students to try healthy alternatives. Our winning cake was a mandarin, avocado and apple cake - who would have thought this was a tasty combination! Many students said they didn't like avocado but loved the cake. Thanks team for this amazing resource.

We loved this challenge! It took the kids weeks to get their recipes right, but in the end they made a vegetable cake with way less sugar and four different types of vegetables in it (and some fruit too!)... what an awesome experience for us. Thanks for providing!

We had done a lot of build in with solids, liquids, gases and chemical changes before we started looking at baking, which made it a lot easier for the kids to understand the science behind baking and what they were looking for. The maths for the sugar content was a bit over their heads, so I had a brain workout! They loved every substitution they made! Beetroot, peas and corn was a great mix! Of course they loved beetroot and apple - very sweet. Thank you School Kit and our sponsors. Keep these wonderful kits coming. Our kids are so lucky!

This was a great kit. I had to spend a bit of time understanding everything, however, I eventually got there. The kids loved doing this project during our inquiry lessons. They did some great research to determine which vegetables they could use in their recipes. It was intriguing to figure out how the substitutions worked in the cake mixtures. I must say some tasted amazing, others not so much!

Great way for the students to see the physical and chemical changes with ingredients when creating cake recipes. The students were keen to learn about measurements and what ingredients made up a vegetable cupcake. Finally they loved devouring them at the end! Innovative and the students enjoyed this kit.
