In what ways did this kit encourage your class to engage in community collaboration? Was a little tricky for community collaboration. however I do believe this was because I was only in there promoting 1 day. Student engagement was amazing.

Rm 8 throughly enjoyed the exciting task of attempting to walk the length of NZ. The integration fitted beautifully and the students were surprised about some of the measurements and steps it took to get to land marks around the school. This is learning opportunity I would use in the future. The hardest part of me (the teacher) I only taught in this class 1 day a week, would recommend in future to try this type of task if you have own classroom.

In what ways did this kit encourage your class to engage in community collaboration? Students asked family members to donate some steps but with lots of pressure related to covid levels already on families we didn't push it too hard.
We want to collate the huge number of steps from accross NZ, please share your final number with us. 77,616 With so much going on with covid levels over term 3 we had limited buy in but support from some families and a few other teachers. Maybe we can try again in term 4 when the weather in our area is a bit more settled too :-)

There is so much that we can dive into in this kit. Connecting the geography, measurement &; statistics along with using spreadsheets, building our health and collaboration skills makes this a valuable kit to work with. Some of the learning and numbers is a bit challenging for Year 4 students but with lots of scaffolding it can be done! Due to ongoing changes in Covid Alert Levels we didn't achieve the steps we wanted but we learned lots along the way!

In what ways did this kit encourage your class to engage in community collaboration? We got other classes to hang out with us and run around together, and we also had parents donating their steps to our class.
We want to collate the huge number of steps from accross NZ, please share your final number with us. All up, our class collected 1,776, 894 steps. They seemed a little deflated with their efforts, but I think they did a good job. We will definitely do this again before the end of the year. Thanks again for the awesome kit - a fantastic resource for year

This kit was good but some students struggled with estimating steps and tracking. Those who had fitbits really enjoyed this and became really competitive and engaged.

What an absolutely amazing opprotunity this was!!!! Students loved it and so too did the adults that became involved. The students were really engaged and loved seeing our distance increase - it got a bit competitive for a while! Some carried around notebooks or recorded steps on their phone just to make sure they weren't missing any steps any time of day. Honestly it was so much fun. they were noting down their steps at all times. The students were also great at getting their whānau to donate steps and push the word out there to get involved.

In what ways did this kit encourage your class to engage in community collaboration? II found that the students did not ";buy into"; this group of lessons as well as expected. Due to COVID we missed our school camp in Term 1, but we had an unexpected opportunity to attend around the same time as I had intended to implement this plan. I en

It was interesting for the students to see just how fast their steps added up as a group. A few of our students had (or got) pedometers and tried to 6'out-do' each other.

In what ways did this kit encourage your class to engage in community collaboration? Due to Covid we would have loved to have had the comunity come and join us on the day at school, but this was not possible. We did have a few community members donate their steps.
