In what ways did this kit develop understanding of the cultural significance of water in Te Ao Māori? We also looked at Tuia 2050 and a unit called Paddle your own Waka. We studied the history of ōtākaro, ōtautahi and our estuary.
Thank you so much for this unit. Its always great when the teacher is learning too. We worked this unit in with our climate change unit and are now finishing it off with a SUPing trip down the river back to school. With a river, estuary and sea right at our back door, this has been very topical. We will definitely continue this next year.

In what ways did this kit develop understanding of the cultural significance of water in Te Ao Māori? Care of our environment - used to link to pepehas . Mountain to rivers
A very hands-on and practical kit. The only difficulty was finding a suitable waterway to accurately use the tools in the kit. Trying to find a waterway within walking distance. Created discussion about the clarity of our water and linked into other curriculum areas.

In what ways did this kit develop understanding of the cultural significance of water in Te Ao Māori? Building our relationship with Papatuanuku and the aspects of Kaitiakitanga, this fit in so well with what we were trying to focus on for the term and year.
Great hands on learning! This was awesome! Students loved being engaged with the science concept of the learning, especially having our local Eco quest group come in and show the students how to test the water using other equipment and resources as well as our kit. wonderful to see that what we received is exactly what they actually use. As we had just started learning about statistic, were able to combine and apply their new knowledge with their data.

In what ways did this kit develop understanding of the cultural significance of water in Te Ao Māori? The children had a good knowledge of water in Te Ao Maori and the kit strengthened this because the children were able to work closely with each other in the water and use the equipment to help them.
The kit allowed the children to learn about the small creek which runs close to our school. The equipment was useful for learning about the eco system and the water.

In what ways did this kit develop understanding of the cultural significance of water in Te Ao Māori? So powerful, I love this!
What I do love about your kits are your lesson plans and supporting videos! I was just wondering if there could be some supporting videos on how to actually do them. My year 7s and 8s struggled with the wording a bit and it would have been helpful to see it modeled to them before the chalk stream. I don’t know if it’s possible, but also videos on how the profressionals do it too! I’m in a farming town so this is totally something that they might have to do later in life!

In what ways did this kit develop understanding of the cultural significance of water in Te Ao Māori? Great for developing understanding. Our stream passes through significant cultural sites, as well as being able to discuss the importance of water to our iwi.
Thank you so much for this kit. We unfortunately didn't have a chance to use it - with lockdown and then our local stream had a rahui on it due to a chemical spill from our local factory. We did discuss the stream and it's importance, but had to refrain from visiting at this stage. As a previous environmental educator I can say the kit was very comprehensive, had great resources and equipment and I can not wait to use it with my class next year. I have answered from looking at the kit and from what we had planned to do, and what we worked on before having to stop our stream study.

In what ways did this kit develop understanding of the cultural significance of water in Te Ao Māori? We had great discussions around cultural responsiveness of native plants and streams. Leaving the environment as we found it.
This kid was wonderful! Due to Covid and a drought we struggled to find a stream! We went to the local MAGS farm and testing their stream after a good week of downpour. The kids got dirty, they got in the water and we had some wonderful science conversations. Thanks for the kit!
