What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? It was good being multi levelled with different strengths in the groups amongst students. Having 'math whiz' helped with some of the more mathematical activity cards, and they were able to take the lead.

What opportunities have arisen for future learning from this kit? In what ways did this kit develop understanding of the cultural significance of water in Te Ao Māori? We did not make enough connections, and is something we need to work on. We focused more on the science, but we had done links to Te Ao Maaori earlier in the year so being more explicit about this would be helpful.
I enjoyed having a range of activities to pick from. Some of them were more suitable for our type of water way/stream than others, so we were able to find success by using the resources that worked for us. Due to the weather being up and down, and also with lockdown, it was a bit hard but we were able to take small workshops to make it achievable. We would like to continue using the equipment as our school gully improves overtime so we can take ownership of checking our water quality!

Hi there - unfortunately we have not been able to undertake the water testing as the day we were to do the visit to our local stream, we went into Covid Level 2. This meant we were (and still aren't) not able to have parent help or volunteers at all at school and couldn't adhere to our ratios for the stream visit. We would like to have a look at doing the stream visit in Term 4 if we are able to. So will have to leave the feedback until then. Sorry, but just another effect of Covid!

In what ways did this kit develop understanding of the cultural significance of water in Te Ao Māori? Linking Pepeha to this learning enabled learners to make connections between our cultural beliefs about awa and our waterways health. Being a catholic school it also helped us link to our Water of life theme.
This was a fantastic module that linked to our Term 1 Inquiry focus on investigating the underwater and our ecosystem. With many of our children involved farming, fishing and water sports this was a unit close to their hearts, making connections to the learning in an authentic sense and setting. The statistics calculations allowed for realistic use of learning from Term 2 maths focus. The range of activities was set just right leading to an engaging, interesting and informative learning focus.

What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? I taught this unit through Mantle of the expert where the students took on roles as ";expert scientists"; and supported a farmer who wanted to attract eels/tuna back to his river that flowed through his farm (that was unliveable). The students then resear

In what ways did this kit develop understanding of the cultural significance of water in Te Ao Māori? Students researched how to sustain life e.g. native eels (Tuna in Te Reo Māori) in rivers on farms in New Zealand.
The water testing kit was a fantastic resource for my class of 25 to learn about water quality and the importance of clean (safe) water for all living things.

What opportunities have arisen for future learning from this kit? The range from year 4 - 8 was too big. I think the kit should be just in 2 year lots e.g. year 5/6 or year 7/7 etc. The tasks provided were too complex for our year 5/6. We had a trip planned but due to covid we have had to cancel this. This is where we w

In what ways did this kit develop understanding of the cultural significance of water in Te Ao Māori? It was affirming to see a range of Kiwi's giving their pepeha in the video. Our children are well on the journey to forming their own and we had lots of opportunity to practice ours. The importance of water in our identity and speaking about where we come
The kit was soooo good. Extensive in it's cover of scientific information and facts encouraging close observations. The kids really loved using all the technical equipment and learned new skills in data gathering and why that data is needed. They were surprised by the many various ways a stream is classified as healthy or otherwise.
