In what ways did this kit develop understanding of the cultural significance of water in Te Ao Māori? It helped students realise that we need to look after it and we have a responsibility to take care of our environment and respect it.
Enjoyed the link to science and the new instruments that the kids got to use. Many had never done anything like this before. Was a great way to link to the environment.

In what ways did this kit develop understanding of the cultural significance of water in Te Ao Māori? The videos at the start of the unit were great. Writing their pepeha and sharing it with the class also helped t develop understanding of the cultural significance of water in Te Ao Maori.
A great way to get children involved with 'real life' learning. I love the fact that the students are involved in making the equipment to be used for testing the water. Another super kit. Thank you!

In what ways did this kit develop understanding of the cultural significance of water in Te Ao Māori? Ko au te Awa, ko te Awa ko au. I am the river and the river is me. We looked at how the Waikato was important to Maaori in the past, present and future. We looked at it through the lens of Kaitiakitanga - guardianship.
We have been studying the SDG's and this kit related very well to goal 6 - Clean water and sanitation. Also we had been looking at the Waikato River and how its use has changed over time. Think Global - Act Local.

In what ways did this kit develop understanding of the cultural significance of water in Te Ao Māori? We looked at a local waterway and the kids realise we are the kaitake of this waterway and we need to be mindful what is put into the water to sustain life.
The kit was well put together and easy for the students to use. The students enjoyed the different experiments and it tied in well with our theme for the term- Kaitiakitanga and the sustainable development goals, one of which is clean water for all and looking after our natural resources. Thank you

What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? It's hard to say when we are only half way through but as we are an International Baccalaureate school everything we teach is transdiciplinary so this fit really well within our curriculum.

What opportunities have arisen for future learning from this kit? Will be able to comment more when we are finished, being back in lockdown it has been too hard to continue at the moment. I feel the kids will want to keep the testing up more regularly, will be interesting to see.

In what ways did this kit develop understanding of the cultural significance of water in Te Ao Māori? I did one session on that and discussing the māori ao view of being kaitiaki over the land rather than owning it so it was a really great starting point to kick of further discussion.
Kia ora, I teach the intermediates one day a week so we have had four sessions so far and are up to designing the periscope. I love it so far and the kids had identified a local body of water to test using the topo map. Each part has taken longer than I thought but in a really good way. Just showing the kids how to use a topo map and explaining what you might use them for ended up being an entire afternoon. Depending on when we are back in school physically we would probably do another 3 lessons plus the field trip to do the water testing.

In what ways did this kit develop understanding of the cultural significance of water in Te Ao Māori? This is a topic that I'll certainly be discussing more in the future as we do a yearly study on the river.
Thanks so much for the water testing kit. The resources were so useful and we took the opportunity to tie in our river study with Squawk Squads adventure call to action. The equipment was especially helpful and a great new addition to our growing River Study kete. Thank you all so much! I did post a video to the Facebook page as well.

In what ways did this kit develop understanding of the cultural significance of water in Te Ao Māori? We didnt spend alot of time in this area. But at the beginning of the unit did use the Whakatuki, which gave meaning to what we were doing. Student understood this and gave clarity to the bigger picture promoting waterway health across NZ.
Our water Testing kit was used ni conjunction with another class. Both class really enjoyed the experience of testing the water and is quite keen to test other areas. The equipment was easy to use and dowloaded instruction clear to follow.
