Beginning with a pepeha was a nice way for the class to connect with their local waters. We investigated our local waterways and their original place names. We also branched out and be

“My class and I have really enjoyed this kit. The equipment was well made and easy to use once explained. They loved the hands on aspects and it has been fun learning about local issues surrounding the creek such as rubbish and pollution. I encouraged students to suggest where they thought would be the best place site to test on the creek. One issue we found was finding the most appropriate place to test, as we did not want to damage to the banks and vegetation with a whole class at the site. This really limited our options and was definitely something to carefully consider before testing.”
