What opportunities have arisen for future learning from this kit? We are planning to visit two sites - the first near the source of the stream and the other after the stream has traveled through town to see how much more polluted it has become from human interference.

In what ways did this kit develop understanding of the cultural significance of water in Te Ao Māori? We have not yet visited this part of the kit.
This kit was very engaging. My class enjoyed the Classroom Olympics and the design brief task. We learned a lot of new maths vocabulary. Unfortunately we have not yet visited the stream due to the difficulties with getting parent helpers. Our trip was planned for today but we did not have enough adults to make it safe. We are hoping to go next week.

In what ways did this kit develop understanding of the cultural significance of water in Te Ao Māori? We are including a study of myths and legends, and the importance of rivers as represented in the myths of Te Ao Maori, hopefully some taniwha too.
The kit was great, the tasks the children were set were mostly quite doable. Some of them (the ones which involved the children getting in the river) needed to be adjusted as our river was quite raging and deep, and it felt a little bit precarious, but the children had a great time and lots of learning and awareness of their environment happened. Thank you.

In what ways did this kit develop understanding of the cultural significance of water in Te Ao Māori? Worked well as we have been learning about the matariki stars and we could link the water stars back to what we are doing.
Amazing kit, my children loved being able to learn about the different water health we need to be aware of.

What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? Unit linked to dramatic inquiry. So children became a class of experts part of a company called' Water Inc.' and helped a farmer perform experiments on his stream so that he could discover what was wrong and how to fix it.

In what ways did this kit develop understanding of the cultural significance of water in Te Ao Māori? Children understood that water is like a life blood, a living entity and sacred for maaori. Tuna also are sacred.
We really enjoyed using the equipment and creating the experiments though some were challenging without access to a local stream. We completely appreciated the opportunity to have access to this well written, easy to understand and follow unit plan. We adapted the unit for dramatic inquiry and co taught with a neighbouring class which was so much fun. Children totally understood the importance of water health as our unit had at it's centre restoring tuna or eel to the stream.

In what ways did this kit develop understanding of the cultural significance of water in Te Ao Māori? This kit prompted the conversation around 'rahui' placing a caveat/restriction on water use or access if the waterway was not being looked after properly. Investigation some places were this has happened in NZ. Thinking about water for our future generati
We have a small creek that runs beside our boundary fence at our school. It was fantastic to be able to go out and explore our creek with this resource. First we cleaned the creek so we could work in it. It was really surprising what rubbish from our schoolbags end up in our creek. We shared this with the rest of our school. Then we used the kit to test the water. The children were very engaged in this outside activity and the station cards were really easy to follow. I would definitely use this kit again as it aligned really well with our learning intentions for the term for our Social Science Unit One World - I can talk about and understand how we can be responsible global citizens I can describe what global warming is and what we can do to help prevent it from getting worse. I can explain how our energy use can harm the environment and describe what we can do to help. I can describe how we can use water responsibly and understand the importance of doing this. The Kit was fun and interesting with great resources that can be used again. Thank you School Kit.

In what ways did this kit develop understanding of the cultural significance of water in Te Ao Māori? Linking to Pepeha was great!
We were really excited to receive this kit. In our Year 5 context, some of the activities were a bit advanced. However we picked and chose appropriate activities for our context. It generated a lot of questions for our Inquiry.

In what ways did this kit develop understanding of the cultural significance of water in Te Ao Māori? We made links between caring for our stream and being kaitiaki (guardians) of our natural world.
I received a fabulous collection of resources to use with my students. The kit came with clear instructions, as well as comprehensive information on the associated webpage. The students really enjoyed the activities, and the resources have been kept for future use.
