What opportunities have arisen for future learning from this kit? We would have loved to conduct the stream testing on a local waterway. The way we unpacked each task card and turned it into a lesson which we carried out in class or out in the school grounds to prepare for the visit (which ended up not going ahead).

In what ways did this kit develop understanding of the cultural significance of water in Te Ao Māori? It taught about water quality, and how water quality is essential to sustain life, the importance of keeping our waterways clean.
It was engaging and exciting for the students. We adapted it to simulate the testing at school, e.g. making 'rivers' on tarps with sediment and rocks, etc and using the bathyscope, etc. Each task was adapted to make it suitable to teaching on land in preparation for the water testing trip. Unfortunately wour testing date fell in one of the lockdowns and we struggled to secure a date that suited the calendar to do the actual trip to a local stream, as we also had a week of EOTC.

In what ways did this kit develop understanding of the cultural significance of water in Te Ao Māori? It helped us to understand the significance of our local stream for local iwi and how it connects to our school pepeha.
This was an excellent resource for promoting our students' understanding of their local water systems. We are lucky enough to have a creek in our school but unfortunately due to a slip on the bank our access has been limited and we haven't been able to use the kit to its full capacity yet. Our stream is mentioned in our school pepeha so using the kit we were able to further delve into the significance of our local stream to local Māori. The Topo Map was extremely helpful for understanding how our school creek connects to wider water systems around us, helping us to make stronger connections to our local area. Overall the kit was an amazing resource for studying an environment of local significance for our setting and we were really grateful to receive it! Thank you School Kit!

In what ways did this kit develop understanding of the cultural significance of water in Te Ao Māori? Sustanability and environment has been an underlying study in our syndicate since lockdown. We watned to make our learning for the children motivating and real for them so they were engaged and were able to also take that knowledge home for the wellbeing of our environment. It is important that our students are learning hands on concepts about the world so that they can take responsibility for their choices and be more informed about the impacts we have as humans on the planet and population. This kit was such an amazing hands on approach to exactly what we were looking for. We have an amazing integrated term that was full of resources that covered so much and we were able to flow it on through the terms. The kids are much more engaged and responsive to their choices and know that they are the kaitiaki of their environment. we looked into water use in each house hold, water cycles, water and our bodies linked it to matariki. Students were amazed at how much water is used and wasted - Some determined that they were spending far too long in the shower based on their data collection. We looked at the effects of animals and farming and how that effects our waters and oceans, the connection and importance water has for us and our land. This kit had so many hand on activities that really gave each learning intention a purpose, We made water filters as an attempt to 'clean' different sources of water. When this kit arrived, it complimented everything we were trying to achieve in integrated, purposeful and meaningful planning and learning for our students. This kit was an be perfect as an extension on an already developing topic. We saw it as enhancing our own water studies. We planned a whole syndicate trip based on this kit and used all the information, activities etc to front load our children as much as we could so that they could gain as much enriching experiences from our trip to the local Awa. Thank you so much for such an amazing resource! i can not wait to see what you have in store for the future.
