What cross curricular learning came about as a result of this kit? It's hard to say when we are only half way through but as we are an International Baccalaureate school everything we teach is transdiciplinary so this fit really well within our curriculum.

What opportunities have arisen for future learning from this kit? Will be able to comment more when we are finished, being back in lockdown it has been too hard to continue at the moment. I feel the kids will want to keep the testing up more regularly, will be interesting to see.

In what ways did this kit develop understanding of the cultural significance of water in Te Ao Māori? I did one session on that and discussing the māori ao view of being kaitiaki over the land rather than owning it so it was a really great starting point to kick of further discussion.
Kia ora, I teach the intermediates one day a week so we have had four sessions so far and are up to designing the periscope. I love it so far and the kids had identified a local body of water to test using the topo map. Each part has taken longer than I thought but in a really good way. Just showing the kids how to use a topo map and explaining what you might use them for ended up being an entire afternoon. Depending on when we are back in school physically we would probably do another 3 lessons plus the field trip to do the water testing.

In what ways did this kit develop understanding of the cultural significance of water in Te Ao Māori? This is a topic that I'll certainly be discussing more in the future as we do a yearly study on the river.
Thanks so much for the water testing kit. The resources were so useful and we took the opportunity to tie in our river study with Squawk Squads adventure call to action. The equipment was especially helpful and a great new addition to our growing River Study kete. Thank you all so much! I did post a video to the Facebook page as well.

In what ways did this kit develop understanding of the cultural significance of water in Te Ao Māori? We didnt spend alot of time in this area. But at the beginning of the unit did use the Whakatuki, which gave meaning to what we were doing. Student understood this and gave clarity to the bigger picture promoting waterway health across NZ.
Our water Testing kit was used ni conjunction with another class. Both class really enjoyed the experience of testing the water and is quite keen to test other areas. The equipment was easy to use and dowloaded instruction clear to follow.

In what ways did this kit develop understanding of the cultural significance of water in Te Ao Māori? The students had learnt about the Maori World the year before in Year 7, so they enjoyed learning again about the significance of water in that context.
This was a really enjoyable, practical activity to use with our Year 8 students. They had fun setting up the kits and using them, and it was good to include a bit of practical science in our social studies unit.

In what ways did this kit develop understanding of the cultural significance of water in Te Ao Māori? The tamariki are developing a growing awareness of how water is important for life and plays a part in ecosystems. A healthy stream is important in providing a healthy environment for living creatures. The Natural water cylce was a key component of helpin
We have loved the opportunity to identify how we can assess a streams health. With a stream running through out school grounds it is wonderful to be able to use it as a resource for learning. The kit has enabled opportunities for every child to be involved in meaningful and purposeful activities that engage their thinking and interest in the local environment. It has also provided another way to tap into the importance of caring for our enviornment.

In what ways did this kit develop understanding of the cultural significance of water in Te Ao Māori? Not successful at all we focused more on the water health and how we can look after it.
As a teacher I loved the scientific thinking that this promoted with the class. It was such a good motivator to get out of the classroom and do some practical learning that has an impact on something directly linked to each and everyone of us. Feedback from the children - The periscope was quite short and kept filling up with water. It would be good to measure a bigger area. It was fun looking under the water. It was eye opening to see what type of water we have. The bug sheet was great so we could identify the bugs. I like the variety of testing. Analyzing the data wasn't very clear. We loved getting out and doing the hands on experiments.

In what ways did this kit develop understanding of the cultural significance of water in Te Ao Māori? Haven't explored that to any degree yet
This kit is one of the better ones. It is very good for integrated studies and certainly meets the core requirements of science, scientific method, research, and environmental studies. However, as it arrived more than a week later than expected and it is comparatively complex in its format, more time is needed to explore its potential to the level where meaningful feedback is possible. The onset of Level 3 Lockdown on the day we were doing our final stream visit did not help. This is a significant study unit with equally significant layers of complexity for Y7 and Y8 students. It is at least a full term's work if we are going to make the best use of it. By the end of the term and the completion of the project, I will be in a better position to comment on its efficacy and value. In the meantime, my students - all 59 of them are fully engaged and are enjoying the adventure.
