My students loved the Water Cycle Song (we still sing it) and enjoyed making the data display and information posters. We're a Year 4 class and some aspects were hard for them to conceptualise and understand (a few of the suggested reading links were well over their heads). The water-saving inquiry homework was a big hit in some houses and not so much in others :D I would do this Kit again with Year 5-8 students for sure!

What influence has this kit had in promoting the longevity of water saving habits and what other water related topics did your students come up with? It rasied my students' awareness of the importance of water and how and what they can do to save water in their daily lives. We were studying the Earth's spheres as our Student Inquiry during that term, it fitted well with our inquiry topic. The students searched and learned about the water cycle, water pollution, hydropshere and the interactions between the four spheres.

1. How did it go for my class My class have had enjoyed using this kits. The resource pack (stickers and badges) was very helpful. My students felt proud when wearing their badges as they were on a mission to save water. We did the checkings every moring before starting the day's learning activities and this was the time for my students to go through all the water saving tips which is fantastic! 2. Kit and resources The kit and the online resources provided for the kit was awesome but it was somehow difficult and took a lot of time to nevigate around the site and not knowing what resources were more sutiable for the level of my students. 3. The measuring aspects of the posters We did not touch on the measruing aspect of each benchmark. I found the instructions provided confuing and was not able to find time to check and understand further regarding this aspect.

What influence has this kit had in promoting the longevity of water saving habits and what other water related topics did your students come up with? When we discussed about only having 3% of freshwater, that really changed their perspective of playing around with water. The students brainstormed different ways they should be saving water. The water saving habits are still visible in the classroom and school. A grandmother said to me, her grandson is pretty serious about saving water at home. That shows the influence it left on the children. We also discussed about drought in some countries, NZ water saving techniques, etc
What was the impact of the daily stamping practice in your classroom and which water benchmark did your students find most fascinating? The students lined up to stamp daily and to show off their water management to other students. It began as healthy competition among them to find who saves the most water. The 5 mins shower was fascinating to them, as they discussed they don’t take that long to shower.
How have your students' perceptions of water conservation changed since using the resource and did it foster a sense of responsibility and awareness in your classroom? Significantly changed, they don’t play around with water, warn and educate others about saving water. They have indeed become the water warriors, this task made them feel responsible for their future.

Water Savers 2024 : This task was something new my students had come across. It was different than regular teaching in class, it gave them a chance to be warrior and put efforts to conserve water. The kit covered various ways we humans can work to save and conserve water, it highlighted to importance of saving water and how every tiny effort counts. The task made students responsible of their actions, made them feel concerned about their future. Overall, all my students and myself, we enjoyed the task. It was very easy to follow.

My Year 5/6 class enjoyed this school kit. Saving water was a concept they were somewhat familiar with and could also easily grasp. They take-home items such as the coaster were a real hit as they always love anything tangible. I would say however the posters were quite large and we are already lacking wall space in the classroom so I didn't struggle with them a bit!

The kids really enjoyed monitoring their water use at home at reporting this back via the stamp on the charts. We did feel that some of the 'containers' had similar themes around the water/fizzy drinks. We loved using our maths skills to work out how much water we saved. The support material with looking at the water cycle, problems with our water and what we use water for were great ways to integrate the kit into our literacy programme.
