What influence has this kit had in promoting the longevity of water saving habits and what other water related topics did your students come up with?
When we discussed about only having 3% of freshwater, that really changed their perspective of playing around with water. The students brainstormed different ways they should be saving water. The water saving habits are still visible in the classroom and school. A grandmother said to me, her grandson is pretty serious about saving water at home. That shows the influence it left on the children. We also discussed about drought in some countries, NZ water saving techniques,etc
What was the impact of the daily stamping practice in your classroom and which water benchmark did your students find most fascinating?
The students lined up to stamp daily and to show off their water management to other students. It began as healthy competition among them to find who saves the most water. The 5 mins shower was fascinating to them, as they discussed they don’t take that long to shower.
How have your students' perceptions of water conservation changed since using the resource and did it foster a sense of responsibility and awareness in your classroom?
Significantly changed, they don’t play around with water, warn and educate others about saving water. They have indeed become the water warriors, this task made them feel responsible for their future.
