The water savers kit is a great way to get students to think about what they are already doing and things that they could change. They are very involved and excited. It can take a while to set up the display and it takes up quite a lot of space in the classroom

Students were very excited to receive the physical prompts to help them conserve water at home. The display posters were great, and added a visual element to something (water conservation) which is hard to visualise for younger students. It would be great to have some resources for students undertaking their own water conservation inquiry project. Data sheets etc.

The water saver kit was great, but what I hadnt realised was that is was a little less 'useful' at a rural country school where all the ākonga are on water restrictions and are superstars at saving water! But we still had lots of great discussions and explored ways to save even more water.

What was the impact of the daily stamping practice in your classroom and which water benchmark did your students find most fascinating? This was the part of the kit that fell down for me. Hard to stamp or track when things didn't come to school.
How have your students' perceptions of water conservation changed since using the resource and did it foster a sense of responsibility and awareness in your classroom? I think they did have a shift, we have already studied the water cycle and water pollution so they had a good understanding and being in Wellington with continued water woes we are aware of how precious it is.

The learning content for the classroom was fantastic, robust discussions and learning about the water cycle and saving water. I found that I had little or NO buy in from home and it was extremely difficult to get any information back to track things. I felt that I had failed somewhat, however, the discussions and learning in the classroom hopefully made up for this.

This kit really gets the kids to think about something they take for granted everyday - water. With links to engage whānau, and hands-on measurement tasks, it really gets the class to think about water critically. A little quickly adds up to a lot, and helps to make changes in their habits.

Their weren't enough activities for the students to do in groups themselves. It was mostly to do with home activities.
