“We had originally bought Lavender scent for our Golden Retriever, but now that I tried the Honeysuckle I wont be switching back!
Love the lather and the scent!! Leo loves the deodorizer spray as well!”
“I purchased the -1 shampoo/conditioner and daily spray both in lavender. They have provided my boy with healthier skin and soft fur. He smells less like a dog! The daily spray is awesome but the smell does not last as long as some of the other reviewers have claimed. Overall, I like the products and love that every purchase helps to provide food for shelter animals. My boy is from a shelter.”
“The product smells great I was excited about adding probiotics to my dogs skin but all your products contain phenoxyethanol!
" Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) on phenoxyethanol states that it can cause skin and lung irritation. It's also toxic to the kidneys, nervous system, and liver, and repeated, long-term exposure can cause organ damage. It notes that toxic effects can occur through inhalation, skin exposure, and ingestion."
I cut this out of all my bath products, why I would it on my pet? I gave my kit away to a friend who didn't care about the side effects.”
Hi Sarah,
We appreciate and totally understand your concern with phenoxyethanol and would never push you to use a product with an ingredient you don't agree with.
We just want to be clear and upfront as to why we chose to use this ingredient (less than 1%) in our grooming products.
Most studies that have found significant negative health impacts from phenoxyethanol are based on full-strength or high-dose exposures. In real life usage, exposures are quite small. That's why it's approved at levels up to 1%.
We're not trying to write-off concerns about this ingredient - honestly, it's not perfect, but there are not many preservatives that are. Even alcohol can be harsh and has it's limitations.
We chose phenoxyethanol because it is a paraben and formaldehyde-free preservative that plays an important role in preserving plant and water-based products. Other preservatives prove to not be quite as strong at preventing bad bacteria and fungi from contaminating products. Effective preservatives are vital for ensuring safety!
Some of the "natural" alternatives to phenoxyethanol are actually contaminated with worse ingredients, such as parabens, which are well known to case skin irritation.
I hope that helps to explain a little why we chose it. We are always on the look-out for safe and effective alternatives as well!
“As I posted on Instagram, I have spent over $5000 for different vets animal dermatology appointments, Ive spent $1000s on medication and speciality foods for my Morkie Lilly. Let me also say Ive bought and tried every anti itch promise for shampoo, itch spray, and conditioner product on the market. Nothing worked, so when I saw your anti itch ad, I bought it too, I must say I bought it feeling less then half hopeful of it working. I received the honey suckle prebiotic anti itch set. It smells so good so it must be just another gimmick. I gave little Lilly her bath right away, I saw miracles immediately. My dog was at peace, she was still and very quiet, no crazy itching, no running around rubbing herself on everything she could, your product changed our life, the anti itch lasts about 3-4 days then I just give a quick spray or bath and we are doing great. This is an honest review, I did not get paid or offered any discounts. I want everybody to know how amazing this product is for itching. It smells good and Ive officially taken my Lilly off all the prescription medications. Thank you, with all our hearts. It works! It really works.”
“I really liked using Scouts on my little chihuahua. The yellow bottles are the ones I tried. She smelled just like honeysuckle!!! -) She was so soft and shiny afterward.”
“I love the smell and my dog felt clean after days. Normally you wash him and then two days later he smells like dog again. This stuff is great. Not only does he smell goid his coat stays soft.”
