A gentle calendula-based cream made by Weleda, specialists in homeopathic and natural products. Now produced without any peanut oil base I am not a big believer in "lotions and potions" when it comes to cleaning a baby`s bottom, but sometimes a soothing cream is required. This cream is extremely kind to children`s skin and is highly rated by many of our customers. I use the Weleda cream as a preventative barrier cream ie one to prevent nappy rash rather than healing it. I find the consistency to be similar to Sudacrem but it's natural and has a wonderful smell. I use this religiously on a newborn baby for around the first 4 weeks. Baby's bottom can be very sensitive in the early weeks as it's never come in contact with wee or poo before and using Weleda cream allows the skin to adapt to the outside world. After the first 4 weeks then i stop using the cream until teething starts. Teething causes red cheeks, dribbling but also causes very acidic wee and caustic poo. The Weleda cream again gives the skin added protection during the teething stage.

“We have been using both this and cloth nappies since birth with our daughter who has just turned 1. It spreads on really easily so you need hardly and it lasts ages. We just use it overnight and if her bottom looks red at all, and have been very please with it's effects. Only issue is that the metal of the tube sometimes gets tiny tears in it where it is bent/folded so it leaks a tiny bit, but this is fixable with a little bit of tape!”

“My newborn had nappy rash that wouldn't clear up despite changing frequently and using other creams etc. Using a bit of this every change soon cleared it up. I then just used it for night nappies and now only use it very occasionally. It smells really nice and doesn't seem to affect nappy absorbency.”
