“I have NEVER been this happy with a boxed hair dye before... Umberto Giannini's hair dye is everything that the perfect hair dye needs to be:
- It's vegan and cerified cruelty free, I'm a vegan and finding a hair colour brand that ticks both points is incredibly difficult.
- The ingredients are natural, free from ammonia, resorcinol, cocamide DEA, silicones, SLS/SLES, gluten and mineral oils! So kind to your hair and skin, this was the first time that I have not experienced the "burning" sensation on my scalp or felt like I was inhaling toxic fumes that were burning my nostrils, when dyeing my hair.
- The smell is lovely and back to the point above, it doesn't burn your nostrils!
- This dye doesn't stain your skin or bathroom surfaces like all other dyes, I hate wearing gloves when I dye my hair because they get in the way so obviously my hands always got stained, but this time all I had to do was wash them with soap 2-3 times and most of the staining came off completely, to get any staining off your forehead/face, all you have to use is a baby/make-up wipe.
- The consistency is just right, very easy to spread and not too runny or thick.
- My hair's pretty long, reaches half way down my back and I had dye left over! So running out of dye isn't a problem.
- Very very happy with the end result, natural hair dyes really do work and Umberto Giannini is the proof of this. The colour really is chocolatey brown like described on the box and my hair feels SO soft and smells so good.”

My only down side was the conditioner as the sachet is so small - it just about covered the top of my scalp so could we have a tube of conditioner going forward? Having not dyed my hair for years due to the chemicals used in traditional dyes, I was very excited when I first heard that Umberto Giannini were developing a natural based dye that was also vegan. This is so easy to apply, doesn’t have that nasty smell that traditional dyes have, and it washes out easily when the developing time is up. It gives great coverage and leaves hair shiny and feeling soft and smooth. The shade is gorgeous, especially when the light catches it.
