Have you tried new batteries?
Are you using the light in a darkened room with no artificial light sources?
What are you trying to use the urine detector on? Carpet, tiles, floorboards ect?
Are the urine deposits you are trying to find fresh or old?
The urineFREE urine detector will only work on older urine stains where the water has gone from the urine and left the water insoluble uric acid crystals behind. The urine detector makes these crystals fluoresce and glow under the black light making finding the areas to treat much easier. The area needs to be dried and enough time for these crystals to have developed. Around 5 days and sometimes longer in humid environments.
It is also harder to find the crystals on areas like carpet, especially if the area has been cleaned before or vacuumed as this will remove the surface crystals but leave the crystals in the subfloor and underlay.

I am sorry to hear that you have not been happy with the urine detector.
With the urine detector, it works by making the dried uric crystals contained in urine to fluoresce.
You can only use the urine detector on dried urine deposits where enough time has past to form the uric crystals. This can take sometimes up to a week depending on the temperature and moisture levels so using it on a fresh stain won't help unfortunately.
Carpet is also notoriously hard to find the crystals aswell especially if the stain has been cleaned previously or vacuumed. This often removes the surface crystals that sit on top of the carpet but don't touch the crystals that are in the underlay and on the subfloor.
