Not often I get to use the mortar and pestle but added the saffron to the jasmine rice for a savory transition. The color is rich and beautiful too. A little dab will do.

I normally get my saffron from Persian friends or family when they visit there. When I saw this product I decided to give it a try. I was very pleasantly surprised and will be using this instead.

Zaran is one of the highest quality saffron I have found in the marketplace so I am mostly buying it for medicinal purposes. Saffron has shown to be a winner in comparison to many antidepressant substances and having little to no adverse effects when taken wisely in correct dosage, it can yield powerful antidepressant effects but I had to discuss with my doctor when I tried going off my antidepressant medication for choosing saffron to be substituted. I had to do it slowly because my body was addicted to the anti depressant meds I used to take and I am glad to have been able to switch to such a natural and powerful antidepressant that instead of adverse side effects has many many side benefits such being a great anti inflammatory, antioxidant and antifungal. We also use it for creating our face mask especially for our teens that suffer from acne and it just works wonders! Our family loves saffron and we buy a 5g container every month. Some researches on PubMd also indicate that Saffron may have Cancer-Fighting properties so we have been well using it in almost everything we cook and drink.

Prepared the Saffron to make golden milk. I added a few threads to milk and heated on a skillet and let it simmer for 10-15 minutes while stirring consistently. Milk was full of flavor and a bright yellow color.
