I lost my receipt. I asked around and everyone I talked to thought Primark would accept an exchange if goods still had tags- like most other stores.
I have found to my cost (£170.50) that Primark do not. They tracked down my purchase confirmed that a receipt was issued but because I didn’t have the physical copy - they wouldn’t exchange. Even though they had the copy receipt in store!
It was an exchange. They tracked the purchase on their computer. They asked for photos of the items with the tags. They asked for the position of the till and what the assistant that served me looked like. They asked for some numbers off the card I paid with, I supplied all this information and they were able to track down the transaction but still refused to exchange. Why did they put me to all that trouble if they had no intention of offering an exchange without a receipt! Appalling waste of time.
I know it is my fault that I lost the receipt(or my dog ate it) - I think it would have been common sense to have a happy customer by extending their goodwill instead of a very unhappy regular customer who Will never shop there again.
